Caps aren't giving up a million dollars for a 6th round pick. They need all the cap space they can use this summer to get this team out of the toilet.

So Stamkos and Kaapo are both going to take $2M per year pay cuts each and Duclair is only going to get a menial raise?

A 3rd probably isn't worth the retention for Montreal right now.

We keep that last spot for Dvorak

Dvorak at 4,5 is a bad contract but 2.25 is a decent contract

Stamkos stays for that all day. If Duke wants more than that say good luck thanks for the effort while you were here.

I mean is it even worth it at this point anyway? Might just be time to start rebuilding. Without 60% of the East being disappointing and if Kucherov has a typical season for himself Tampa probably isn’t even if the playoffs to begin with this year, u got ur cups but seems to me like it’s time to start getting assets back for guys while they have value. Obviously Stamkos and Duclair are UFAs but signing them to short term deals and higher AAV’s and flipping them at the deadline might make the most sense

Armia played well enough that Montreal doesn't have a pressing need to move him (or at least retain that much on him).

To counter Sergachev not missing over half the season. Vasilevskiy not missing the first 1/4 season. Them not putting in a brand new defensive system. Maybe Jeannot finally can stay healthy for more than a handful of games at a time. Should all factor into them being able lets also see who they sign.

No chance Stamkos signs a flippable type deal. Dude WANTS TO BE HERE go listen to his exit presser on the lightning YouTube channel.

Yeah I’m sure he does want to be there but is it worth it to get 1st or 2nd rounded for 6 more years and then rebuild for 10 years or start now and try to get a jump on things. Signing a 3-4 year deal allows him to flipped soon, same with Hedman, Vasi, and Kucherov in that time where you can gets ransoms and jumpstart a rebuild.

Right now you guys literally have no real prospects and it’s gonna painful for a long time if you guys let all ur players just keep extending as they get older

Window isn't shut this team has most bounces go their way yeah they can( every cup champ gets a lions share of bounces)
you also don't seem to get is Stamkos isn't signing any deal where he gets flipped easily anywhere.

I mean let’s be real the window is shut. Tampa literally only made the playoffs based on a career year from Kucherov and 7 teams behind them all losing basically all of their last 20 games lol. Unless Kucherov is going to put up 140 points every year then everyone is going to continue to age

Agreed, while I would do the move of Armia for what is being presented here, I do feel like the retention off of Dvorak's contract would be more valuable down the line close to TDL. I'd trade Armia with no retention for a 6th... While it seems people are all crazy about his play in the last two months, I feel like it's an Armia thing.. He starts off good, then goes downhill for 3 to 4 months, and finishes off good at the end, so getting him off the books as soon as possible would be better while he's semi-hot...
