I like a lot of the moves... I would partner Whitecloud with Chabot though as tyhey were absolutely dominant together at the WHC 2 seasons ago. Whitecloud would be the perfect (DeMelo) type partner for Chabot. I don't thgink Bjugstadt is needed, especially at $2M. With options like Kastelic, Ostapchuk, and Chartier (if retained) could all be as good or better than Bjugstadt at a much lower cap hit. I am hoping Staios chases Cal Clutterbuck hard as a UFA this offseason. I think he'd be perfect for the 4th line and is amazing killing penalties, something we desperately need. But overall I like your moves smile

it doesn’t have to be bjugstad specifically, i just wanted someone who could play 3c in the event norris goes down again

It’s a nice offer for Buch but I honestly see them extending him over trading him

I wouldn’t do any of these moves except the Nashville one. We need to stop moving so many picks

I’m not sure how that’s really similar to Guentzel.

The dream is to rebuild our prospect pool without killing the current roster much and replacing them with better ufas short term that compliment our team better

mid 6 forward who can play up the lineup, B+/A- level prospect and a higher draft pick to boot

That’s a very pie in the sky assessment of Joseph and Kleven. Point I’m getting at is Pittsburgh received probably 3 Kleven level prospects and Bunting who while on a heavier contract has a past history of playing in the top 6 amongst elite players.

Yea the pick is better. But the whole format of the trade is vastly different.

Folks, Buch is not a direct comp for Guentzel. Buch is not up for sale like Guentzel, he'd be there the full season if he did move, and most importantly of all STL is not in the same situation as the Pens, so they're not going to want the same things.

Don't think about piling up similar pieces or what you feel is the same value package, and ask yourself what the Blues would want to give up a player they're aiming to extend. This AGM at least has the right general idea to an extent, but I can't imagine this offer twists Army's arm. He no likey minus skaters in defense.

Okay, well the first thing isn't a need at all. In fact, it kinda gets in the way if he's what you say he is. The prospect is absolutely not A level. He's a poor skater, whose ceiling is maybe 2nd pairing, though even that seems rather optimistic. It's presumably not going to be enticing. The pick is potentially nice for trading up, but it's not high enough to cover for the issues of the other two. And since Joseph makes about half of what Buch currently makes, the Blues don't gain a difference making amount of cap space, either.

Not that it’ll change anything because if he’s not a need than he’s not a need, but Kleven is a great skater for 6’4 200 lbs

I definitely would never call Kleven a great skater, even at lower levels, but I'm saying he is a minus skater compared to NHL level. His 4-way mobility is an issue now, and will be a bigger issue against NHL skaters. He also gets beat wide way too much. I won't suggest every prospect scouting guy dings his skating fairly hard, but many if not most do.

it was an issue at the draft cycle but it’s not anymore, it’s been a major area of development for him. He will never be a + skater per se, but his mobility is more than passable for a player in his mould. Again he’s not a perfect prospect but I think he has upside in the right situation

The Blues would want a bona fide top 4 Dman and Army insists on plus skaters. People can say all sorts of things about the Blues Dmen the last couple seasons, but everyone is a plus skater. Been that way for years. Kleven is definitely not a plus skater and he also has issues with passing. In these ways, he does not fit the profile they like. Keleven's defense and stick and physicality fit (the last one to an extent, as he's kinda too aggressive a lot of times).
