Briere blows it up

Description
In the offseason Briere should blow up the team a bit, because right now they are in no man's land where they aren't good enough to make the playoffs and not bad enough to get high draft picks. They still need to get high draft picks if they want to become cup contenders in the future.

I think they should trade Konecny rather than extentend him. He is 27 already and is in his prime years which won't be put to best use in Philly unfortunately. I'm guessing he would want an 8 year extension which would kick in when he is 28 would run until he is 36, which is just not ideal for Philly right now since they can't maximize the use of his prime years.

Right now Flyers really need to get themselves a guy that could in the future be the teams 1C and I don't see them getting that through trades right now. They could also use some better prospects elsewhere in the lineup, but getting a future 1C is by far their biggest need.

Lot of fans want this team to go out and trade for players so they could become contenders sooner, but I'm willing to stick it out with the longer route of drafting and developing players for couple more years and then trying to get into the playoffs when Michkov arrives.

I don't hate that deal as a Sabres fan. I don't think Kulich would be the prospect Philly would be interested in though.

Thought they could use some veteran presence, but I totally get it if they would rather look elsewhere.

Kings have zero interest in Johansen. Kopi PLD Danault Lizzote are all better than Johansen so he fits literally nowhere in our lineup.

Yes, nothing against Laughton at all but the fit wouldnt be great. Konecny only the other hand would a perfect addition for the Sens.

I don't think Ottawa has the right pieces to make a Konecny trade happen, unless they are willing to trade their 1st which I doubt they will part ways with.

Kulich seems like a pretty good fit for them since he is listed as a center/left wing in here which are positions Flyers could use some help in on their forward core. Savoie is another Player which they could be interested in since he is a center.

I would want a 1st and a center prospect as a base if they are trading him. Ottawa doesn't have valuable center prospects other than Ostapchuk who I'm not that high on. Unless they are willing to part ways with their 1st I don't see them tradign him to Ottawa.

I don't see them trading their this years 1st and Kulich. To me that seems like a reasonable return for unretained TK. He could get more, but I wouldn't be upset over that return since I'm kinda high on Kulich and he fits what they need. Add retention to that and you could raise the price more.

Would Ottawa really be willing to part ways with Greig? I would assume Greig would just be off the table in trade conversations. If they are willing to part ways with him for TK then there would be a better fit.

Would do this deal for TK but Sabres won’t touch this. Kulich on an elc is way more desirable for ownership than paying konecny.

He could get more but I’ll sell him for less anyway is certainly a choice for ur biggest asset at the start of a rebuild that’s all I’m saying lol it doesn’t make sense

you need to give to get, Konecny would need to agree to a reasonable extension of course but i would be willing to add Greig in a TK deal. TK would help OTT more now to make the playoff than Greig and Greig is young enough for P{hilly rebuild.

Except :
1- Sabres unlikely to move Kulich
2- we don’t “need” retention
3- we probably aren’t even looking to bring in a player like Konecny (someone who’ll need a big contract)

I would've thought Greig was almost untouchable with the way the Sens fanbase has liked him so far, but this seems reasonable to me. The toughest part then would be to get him signed to a reasonable extension.

I could definitely see him getting more than that. Now I'm interested in hearing how much you think he should be getting in a return, since you value him higher than me.

If Briere doesn’t get more value for TK than DeBrincat got it’s a failure. ADB got 7OA, 39OA, and a 3rd. TK is cheaper and frankly better. I don’t see Kulich being that special and he was taken 28th. Buffalo’s pick next year is gonna be anywhere from 12-20 probably so even at best it’s 12OA and 28OA (equivalent). 7th is extremely more valuable in every draft than 12th and that would be assuming best case scenario. There at minimum needs to be another early 2nd, late 1st, or another solid solid prospect in this trade to make it worth it. Briere himself wanted two 1sts and two solid prospects last summer and TK had a career year, so his ask for Tk isn’t going to be cut in half like you have it here. Now I know they aren’t going to get 4 great pieces for TK but they should be getting at least 3 good pieces then.

ABD was also 24 at the time and already had two 40 goal seasons under his belt and was a RFA, so part of his value was because there was room for improvement and the controllability with his contract. Konecny will be a UFA in 1 year and has reached his prime which will lower his value in this case compared to ABD. That trade has also pretty much set the market price for wingers. I doubt a team is willing to even give up 3 good pieces now that Konecny has only 1 year left and has reached his prime. Maybe a team is willing to give a pretty high pick for Konecny but I wouldn't expect them to give too much more on top of that depending on the pick. One of the big value drivers last summer was TK's cheap contract that a team could get for 2 years and now there's only 1 year left on it.

ADB also forced a trade which didn’t help with value. And I disagree that TK has reached his prime I think he would be hitting 80+ easily on a team like Toronto or someone with a real top line. But we can agree to disagree and I appreciate ur insight
