Description
Wait a little longer to offload Krug and/or Schenn. Hopefully, they can manage some semblence of bouncebacks before the full NTCs drop to 15-teamers. If the team is doing well and requires it in season, a 2C solution can be found then.

Not sure how many of these could actually fly from both sides, but all of these trades are in the area of trades agreed on in precious AGMs, if not damn near exactly those trades. The Buffalo one is the one that strays the most, and I'm actually not sure if they still want to offload Greenway's contract (which is how I'm treating it here), so it could be wacky nonsense.

And I think Leddy can still carry a bit of top pairing load, so Hague doesn't need to jump straight up to 23 minutes a night. And Krug could actually be the one dropped to 3rd pairing, but it's worth it to see if having Jokiharju next to him can allow Krug to focus more on what he does well. If not, Leddy can slide up to 2nd no problem.

Perunovich I'm hanging onto in case a Krug dump opportunity presents itself. Injuries happen, so I'll overpay Scotty a little to convince him to give us a little more time to jettison Krug. And let's face it, Kessel could easily end up the 7th Dman in this scenario, with Perunovich a regular. It's how it should be, but until we get a real coach, this one somehow imagines Kessel is amazing.

LTIR = Prospects most likely to take the pregame rookie lap during the season (kinda ranked from most to least likely, but things can change fast, so don't take it as etched in stone).

The trades don’t seem awful but that’s a pretty rough middle six we are left with. If you could sign Stephenson as a ufa that might help

Not sure how you figure that middle 6 is weak, but just to be clear, this is not the complete retool finished. In this scenario, finishing the retool must wait until later in the season, or more likely the summer of 25. It's not feasible to move every mountain in one offseason.

And like I said, if a 2C is required for early competing, that can be handled in season. Guys like Nelson, Sharangovich and Granlund could be impending UFAs on struggling teams (you do see the available cap space, yes? cool ). As of now, I'd prefer to season Dean and others who'll join us during the season (such as Snuggerud). What I do not want to do is block them, as much as I would love to have Stephenson. If Schenn somehow goes, I will be the first in line to grab Stephenson, trust me.

Okay, lemme go one at a time.

1 - Haven't you posted multiple AGMs with Faulk trades?
2 - Yes, we all like him, but you also have 327 young LDs. It's called dealing from surplus.
3 - Who said he didn't?
4 - Fair enough. Last I heard everyone wanted to dump him, so as I said in the description, I was not sure where he stands there.

I won't comment on the value, I dont watch enough of Faulk. But the Sabres are already committed long term to 3 blue liners, and Id guess barring a really bad 24-25 season, Byram will get a long term deal as well.

Even with the retention, it doesn't really work with the internal cap the Sabres have. That's why they've been so reluctant to deal prospects, even lower end ones, during Adams' tenure. He's not dumb (speaking in relative terms here lol) he knows he quite literally can't afford to deal the guys on ELC's unless its an absolute home run because they need a steady pipeline of ELC's coming through to sustain whatever they build.

I can only speak for myself obviously but if I have a 3-12 pick this year, the price for a team to move from 15-16 into the top 12 is going to hurt a lot more than evolving wilds draft pick valuation for example. Thusly, I don't think quantity of picks will be enough for any team to give up 5/6 Ov. If its essentially STL 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd and Robertsson for 5/6th Ov, I would decline without a seconds notice. None of those teams 1-8 need more picks at the cost of 1 excellent one. You'll need to add 1 better piece at the cost of at the very least the extra 2nd, 3rd and Robertsson.

Again, that's me. Maybe someone else goes "More darts at the dart board! Weeeeeeee!".

Right off the top, it's not the STL 1st. It's New Jersey's 1st, which will probably be 9-11. You read it wrong.

Also, I do not look at EH unless pointed toward it. And I'm fairly sure that if I did check EH for the price of that package it would be a not insignificant overpay.

Unless Iginla is gone and there is no real player Fitz likes I don't know if moving down 5 makes much sense for the Devils.

I understood fine, it was the sum of parts leading to the 5-6 Ov at the end. Which went through NJ's pick at 10th then to the 5th-6th. So i just combined it all to simplify.

Either way you look at it, my opinion remains. Outside 14ish getting into top 10 is going to hurt. i;e more than what you showed here. At least IMO.

Like I said, this NJ swap idea was suggested by NJ fans, not me. So maybe take that up with them. The Arizotah swap is mine, but again, by historical comps it's a small overpay. Taking them as one move doesn't make much sense when it's two moves with two teams.

Some fans just have an addiction to making trades on here even if they don't make sense for their own team. They get off on the responses.

Umm okay. It's not an insane notion, the difference in quality between the players rated 10-11 and 15-16 is minimal, and the Devils prospect pool has definitely thinned out over the last few seasons.

Personally, I like to see NJ move this pick for a player as opposed to more futures. We have enough of those at the moment and glaring needs on D and G that this pick could be used for. If we're using the draft asset calculator, the offer here is coming in a bit short. The 2nd rd pick would need to be in the 37-39OA. Close, but I'm not sure this package gets it done.

LD/G - think we’re bad D/G trade partners for a 10 overall. There was an old post Buch and StL 1st for NJ 1st that was pretty intriguing, but I think the gap on the difference between those 1st has since closed.
