Wild are in a weird spot as they have almost 14M in dead cap space for the next two years so why not play some of the kids to save money.

IMO Pionk would be a great fit to play along side Nurse, he can play both PP (Not that he will every play on the PP1 but would be on PP2) and PK and is similar to Ceci Oiler would have to not be on his 6 team no trade list

The Jets can't really afford to downgrade one of their two RHD to Ceci for a winger they don't need and a pick.

understandable, I've been going through most teams seeing if there is a upgrade or at least similar to Ceci and personally felt that Pionk possibly fit that. smile

I dont think Broberg or Holloway would get that much, two guys who bounced back and forth between the AHL and NHL arent likely getting 7 figures (maybe 800K and 850K respectively?).
Henrique hasn't earned that contract with us, if he wanted to stay I'd say 1.5M is appropriate but anything above that I'd personally rather just give Foeg's.

I personally really like Pionk, but tbh he would be a rental and isn't that much better than Ceci. I think you've overpaid a bit but also understand that WPG fans are going to laugh at that offer, realistically I just wouldn't imagine a trade exists there.

Why Gaudreau, just curious what part of his game you like?

Yeah, it's really tough. There are so few quality RHD around, that you can't afford to let one go unless you are upgrading or have no choice, but to let one go.

That MIN trade is genuinely bad. Gaudreau has been downright awful this year and is locked up for 2.1mil for 4 more years. Beyond that, your reasoning for trading Lavoie doesn't make sense when you literally have Gaudreau filling the spot in the bottom-6 that Lavoie would be pursuing.

Further, Pionk isn't what I'd call "similar to Ceci".

On the whole, I'd much rather the team work on getting younger and faster. I'd do this by targeting UFAs like A. Carrier & Debrusk and maybe make a trade swapping Lavoie for a faster and more two-way young player in a similar situation (not certain as to who yet).

Terrible, horrendous, this sucks! No I’m just joking with you, I would never say that. In reality, I will try my best to give some constructive criticism.

First of all, the bonus. I like it that you have included this here, as a lot of people who make oilers posts do not do so. We would need a backup, as you know, I’m thinking we resign Pickard, and himself, and Rodrigue will fight for the roster spot. The loser will of course go to the AHL to tandem with Ungar. If Henrique is coming back to Edmonton, we will not need Gaudreau, as a guy like Perry, Lavoie, or Kane will take that RW spot. I would like to get a top 6 forward still, to play with Draisaitl, and Pionk doesn’t cut it imo. He’s not good enough defensively to play with Nurse. Instead, I would look at getting one of Matt Roy, Dylan DeMelo, or Alex Carrier from free agency, or a good guy via trade.

Have a great one!

tbh I haven't really been all woaded by Henrique but I think that he is a good part and has had success with Drai and Foegele, I think he will take a discount to stay so I gave him 3M and I believe that if he wants higher we should walk away and circle back on Foegele.

for Gaudreau I don't really know tbh, I was looking for a 3rd line forward that can Center and play 2nd line minutes if we need to replace Foegele , also was looking for someone who can play PK minutes, he is also somewhat affordable at 2.1M x 4 , Gaudreau wasn't the first to come to mind for that spot as I was looking at both Blueger (if he makes it to FA) and a little more costly Colton (more harder to fit in because of money and trade cost to the Avs)

I havent really watched Gaudreau but 2.1 is a lot for a guy who isn't filling a huge role for us, we have a few AHL guys who can fill that role until deadline when we could probably swing for a bottom 6 player at the cost of a 3rd or 4th.

It's a nice team though, isn't the direction I would take the team but if this is what we rostered at the start of 2024-25 I'd be happy, bout 4M in room for other trades/signings too.

Wild accept! Gaudreau has a modified NTC, though, but maybe as a Canadian he is willing to go to a Canadian market.
