After Jarvis, Necas will be the second or third player the Canes try to resign (depending on whether or not Guentzel is interested in staying in Carolina). For the Canes to move on from Necas, they would need a similar top6 player coming back, or they might package him with picks/prospects for an upgrade. Harris is of no interest to the Canes as he'll be the 3LD to a scratch the entire season. A late first and mid second just aren't enough to make the Canes consider moving Necas. Frankly, the Habs are not good trade partners for Necas because there are 2 assets the Canes would be interested in - Caufiled and Suzuki - and neither are available.

I think Habs fans need to ask themselves the question, “Would we take that package for Caufield?” And if the answer is no, then it’s likely not enough for Necas. Canes likely have no interest in anyone on the Habs roster outside of Slafkovsky, Suzuki, or Caufield, so unless the Habs are willing to part with one of those pieces, they likely won’t get Necas. Unless they want to try the offer sheet route again.
