Maybe we try the Drouin Solution

Description
Drouin played the best hockey of his career on the RW in Tampa Bay, and we've seen in flashes this season that Zegras is better passing from his backhand than almost everyone else on the team is on their forehand, maybe RW is where he should play for a while. He can still pull off the Michigan from RW.

In the draft I see Verbeek going against the grain and taking Mintyukov's running mate from the Saginaw Spirit Zayne Parekh. Michael Brandsegg-Nygard seems to be slipping in the draft, if he does and the Oilers get bounced early by the Golden Knights, I see us taking him.

Dallas fans, not an actual OS, figure he doesn't get his QO and we pick him up as a free agent.

He's been running up draft boards and I'm sure there's some familiarity there with Mintyukov and the scouting staff already having seen him some. Rob talks hockey did a great video on him, he's breaking records in the O just like Mintyukov was. Decent size, about the same defensively as Levshunov just less physical, but like Mintyukov, one of the highest ceilings in the entire class.

He's been climbing draft boards recently with how well he's been playing, many have him going top 5, some see his as top 3, I think we'll see his draft stock rise amongst the more conservative draft rankings in the coming months.

Ty Dellandrea will likely stay in Dallas. He’s just playing down the lineup on a loaded team.

I definitely see Ducks taking RD and this is the draft to do it.

Honestly, I was thinking the same thing the other day. By all chance, ANA may drop to 5th overall, or Levshunov may already be off the board. Whether PV does choose Parekh over Levshunov, I wouldn't be too mad, both players will be unbelievably polarising when they join the NHL in a year or two. Personally, Zayne Parekh will be the more offensively dynamic player with the puck whilst Artyom Levshunov will be the more 'complete player' with his defensive game. (My knowledge of these players, could be wrong. I haven't seen them play, I only know what I read so please do correct me if I am wrong).

Zayne Parekh, D, Saginaw (OHL), 183 cm / 6'0"
Artyom Levshunov, D, Michigan State University (NCAA), 188 cm / 6'2"

The same goes for Michael Brandsegg-Nygard. There are so many right-handed wingers with size in this year's draft that could potentially play in the middle six for the Ducks. (Not in any Order)
- Ryder Ritchie, F, Prince Albert (WHL), 183 cm / 6'0"
- Michael Hage, F, Chicago (USHL), 185 cm / 6'1"
- Igor Chernyshov, F, Dynamo Moscow (MHL) ,189 cm / 6'2"
- Emil Hemming, F, TPS (Liiga), 187 cm / 6'2"
- Beckett Sennecke, F, Oshawa (OHL), 188 cm / 6'2"

What I'm trying to say is, to expect the least unexpected from PV.

Parekh is better than Levshunov, but if Levshunov develop perfectly, he could be better

I feel like if we wind up with 5OA and Lev is off the board I’d be totally happy with Parekh in the pipeline. But if we end up at 2 or 3OA and Lev is there, I’m pretty set on that preference.

Vegas’ defense averaged ~6’3” last year, Colorado 6’1 in ‘22, Tampa 6’3. It’s an absolute must to have size on the back-end.

Our top 4 already has 5’9 Zell and 6’1 Minty as locks, 6’0 Parekh would pin 3 of 4 with an average height of 5’11. I’m worried that while our transition game may be solid, we won’t have the size to protect our paint

And I know I seem to be the only one who isn’t excited by Nygard, but I’m just not. His production worries me just like Gaucher’s did. I don’t like the idea of targeting players who seem like they top out on the third line with a first round pick
