Description
The Hippocratic Oath ("First, do no harm") should be mandatory for all GMs.

Sure would be nice to have that cap cushion if it turns out that Matt Roy costs more than what I have here.

Sure would be nice to have that top-40 pick from selling Sean Durzi back. I sure am gonna keep a real careful eye on whom Winnipeg selects with pick 40 as he makes his way through the Jets pipeline.

Note that I've added only one player who isn't under team control right now. (An alternative to signing Dakota Joshua would be to sign a free agent for up to $3.5 million to fill the #3C slot and move Turcotte to LW.)

To quote the Jackson Five, "One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch girl." Might be true in love, but in a cap league as you suggest, "one bad apple CAN spoil the whole bunch"

The PLD trade was silly and the contract is even worse. I don’t see any team giving up anything right now to help LA get out of that contract. If he has a bounce back year next season and looks like the player he can be that’s when you’d want to trade him. Never sell low, sell high.

I was just gonna say something along these lines. Both the trade and contract made NO sense at the time, and they make even less sense now.

PLD conceptually is fine. He’s a big guy who can skate with a lot of production at the NHL level for a guy his age. What didn’t make sense is giving up Villardi and then proceeding to pay him at the level of players who have produced more when he was never going to be more than a 3rd line center for your team

I think he’s overpaid by about $2m from being a valuable asset.

TBH the only trades/moves i condemn him for are Bergavin type trades.
Its almost like he's a negative influence on those around him.

I mean you waited too long to sell on Durzi, Walked, Kaliyev heck even Roy now among others.
Sometimes Youth need to be moved just as much as the veterans
But you moved Muzzin just in time for a pretty good return
Although you did lose part of it on the Waiver wire this year
That said it comes back to all bad decisions came after Marc Bergavin signed on

Remove Marc and i bet you see an improvement
I bet you wont see another dumb move like over paying for a French Player just to spite his old team and seemingly screw his new one.

Will next year be selling at a higher level? He’s not going to beat out either of the top two centers. Unless the Kings will be playing him in a different role, I see his value going down. At least now, he’s one year removed from being valuable. The memories of his play in Winnipeg is probably what’s driving most of his value even if he’s overpaid.

One year from now, I think you could be looking at him in the same realm as Huberdeau

I do believe there will be a discussion of PLD for Ullmark (with an extension to make him waive his no trade if he is inclined) unless Lindholm makes it clear he is coming to Boston pre draft. Whether LA pays the necessary comp in picks to make it worth Boston’s while is another story.
