AZ passes - they need franchise D and this draft 2-6 seems to have them

I don’t see the Coyotes doing that

If another team wanted Montreal’s 1st and offered you what you offered Arizona would you accept?

I dont think Barron is enough to move up from the mid 20s to the mid teens, and I certainly dont think Harris + a late 2nd is enough to move up from the mid teens to the 5-6 range

No, Barron, Harris and a 2nd are not enough to move up that far.

Would MTL move down from 5 to 25 for 2 guys at risk of being put on waivers and a 2nd?

From my perception of this draft it seems like there's a pretty big drop off around pick 16. I think that would be enough to move up from 27 to 16 (although as always with moving up/down really depends a lot on individual teams' lists and how the board falls). There is zero chance any team is dropping out of the top 12 this year with how bad the draft gets after around that point I would think, especially in the top 8. Last year you at least had teams like WSH, STL that in theory would do it if the right roster player became available, this year I don't see any team looking for a move like that and no player on MTLs roster that would be that enticing.

What are you talking about? Harris is not waiver exempt next year but Barron is. Harris is an NHL defenseman he's never even played in Laval. Hes getting better every year.
I can tell from the way you 'share' you just vomit your opinion on this site without actually knowing or researching anything.

Barron loses his waiver exemption next year. Both are at risk to lose their spot and be placed on waivers if one of Mailloux, Hutson, or Reinbacher takes the step. More likely one of them will be traded for around a 3rd round pick to prevent that, similar to the Siegenthaler trade.

Again, would you trade 5th overall for a late 1st, 2nd, and 2 depth pieces?

If they were forwards, like Holtz/Kakko yup

Since Barron was signed at age 20 he got 3 years of waiver exemption or 160 games played, whichever comes first.

21-22, 22-23, 23-24. That is 3 years, meaning he will lose his waiver exemption next season

I’d say Kakko is worth more than Harris, and Holtz is quite a bit more valuable than Harris. Someone like Krebs I’d say is a better comparison (although Harris might be a bit more valuable than him)

Arizona doesn’t even consider it. Dickinson, Levshunov, and Buium are vastly more impactful than Harris and a later teens pick
