You can 100% pin it on him with that effort. Him touching it would have been better than what we saw happen as wow thats not a good look for him
You cant just stop playing especially when your gonna be the second highest paid player in TOR that kind of stuff's a no no
In hindsight but as far as he knew, his line changed and went off. Him skating to the bench harder wouldn't have made a difference. You do love pinning blame on the wrong guy often eh?
I get it, it looked lazy because of the result but had the rest of the team done what they were supposed to, you wouldn't have even noticed Nylander change. Even if he would have skated harder to the bench, they still would have scored. He was irrelevant by that point. Blaming him is just emotional and gives everyone else a pass for their failure.

As said before your soon gonna be making 11.5m those kinds of plays are unacceptable dont matter what he thought. If this was any other game probs would be benched and he should as its just lazy and embarrassing especially when you factor in hes doing nothing score wise not scoring since Mar 28

Once again, he was irrelevant to the play. You can't use hind sight to bend the reality of the moment. A controlled line change and set up is better than a defensive zone faceoff. What do you want him to do there? Become everyone else on the ice and put them in position? A bad line change caused the goal. Willy was the last guy to change, the damage was done by the rest of the line.

He was relevent lul. Touch it to prevent what we saw after who cares if it goes into our zone doesnt mean it will = goal
Hitting 70 would have gave TOR a boost going into BOS
Now idk if anything will save them from the mental warfare and with this teams recent play yea its not looking good
Good luck they gonna need it
The difference between 69 and 70 goals is 1 goal. People are putting way too much stock into this narrative. You can't overlook the fact that Matthews had 69(!!!) goals this season, only in Leafs land would this so unappreciated...

Not really as mental warfare is no joke and after the last 2 meetings him getting 70 for the first time since 93 would have been a nice boost
As this may be the one year he does it lul
Look when Kucherov hit 100 assists
Think of it like this would u rather have 99% or 100% on your report card/test
While 99 is great 100% means you were perfect
Tor played like ass those final 4 games cause there sole focus was 70 goals for papi guess what it didn't happen and now reality is setting in. He didn't get it and we threw 3 games playing **** defense and ruining our special team plays
Not the vibes u want heading to BOS in what's gonna be WWIII
Yeah I don't know Hyman's age but he's not 35-36 and generally at those ages is when these types of players really drop off. It's what I was thinking of when imagining a long term deal for Bertuzzi.
Imagine this happened in the playoffs you cant do that
Stop the play don’t skate as slow as possible to the bench and allow a wide open pass.
He didn't allow the pass, he was going off on a change, anyone else in that position would likely have done the same. No need for a defensive zone faceoff. He doesn't have eyes on the back of his head. You really can't see beyond your opinion eh? Just justify whatever and bend everything to fit your rhetoric.
Had Willy skated harder to the bench, the same result would have happened. Had he touched the puck it was a defensive zone faceoff. You can't use hindsight to justify your emotions when the play happened how it happened for good reasons.
He didn't blow a back check, he went off on a change as the last man off, the defence and other forwards didn't get into position properly and a breakaway happened. Those players messed up, or the coaches did on how they called the line change. Willy was irrelevant at that point. Him not touching the puck is likely what the coaches tell him what to do in that situation.
