He is overpayed and part of the reason AVS had to deal Byram. I'm sure they tried shopping Girard before TDL, but his contract isn't very good.

Drouin isn't likely to get 65-70 points this season. Trade Manson instead of Girard. Ritchie won't be in the NHL next year and neither will Behrens. If you're buying that many years of Mitts, he's probably going to want around $1M more; that will be his last big contract. The sample size on Annunen is still very small; he's done well and it's worth re-signing him but he has a long way to go to prove he's a full-time NHLer. Running a 20 man roster with no room isn't going to work.
