Rust is 31 and before the end of this year he will be 32. He has 4 more years at over 5 million. That is cap that could be used for younger players both in the system and thru trades. He is not a bad player, but like I said he will be 36 when this deal is done and that scares me, 32 or 33 is that magic number where most players start ti decline. Plus Yzerman has preached flexibility since day one, and having that much cap in a 32 year old is not flexible or smart for a rebuilding team
