Juuse Saros is 1 year away from hitting UFA and has had a relatively mediocre year. Let's be realistic about what he returns and what goalies return.

The fact that he has 1 more year on his current deal is what makes him so valuable. He’s not like the other goalies, he’s in that Sorokin Shesterkin class. Not Jake Allen or Kahkonen tier. He’s still relatively young and has been great in these past years. You will need to give more than a 2020 draftee who’s been struggling for back to back seasons and a 1st. It’s going to take Casey ( Position where NSH is very weak and NJ is strong ) and a young NHL scorer like Mercer. It’s simple.

Or you can go after a 34yr old Markstrom. Or you can Keep Allen Kahkonen duo for next year again and miss the playoffs because you have pumpkins infront of the net.

Highly unlikely they will find a top-six center for one year of a goalie. Good centers have enormous value in trade market. Goalies far less.

Nashville’s team as a whole really failed saros which is embodied by the Dallas game before we really started turning things around.

As for a realistic return, 2024 1st (top 5 protected) and Casey. A rhd to help build a future dcore with Molendyk with and a low 1st rounder to draft a center since as has been pointed out they just dont get traded especially for a goalie. Maybe toss in signing rights to your ufa goalie and we can toss back a 3rd so we can kindof bridge some perceived value gap here. Nashville fans will see low value, devils fans will probably see too much for a ufa coming of a so-so year

Saros sv% and GAA are drug down by a stretch of really crappy team hockey where the defense constantly left easy cross ice tap in goals. Saros did have the occasional bad game/goal but it takes alot to recover from that.
