whats with Canucks fans wanting a generational talent and thinking scraps are a sufficient trade bait? This is like Toronto trading Domi, a few picks, giordano, and Blue Jays season tickets for Mcdavid and Nuge

I have a feeling hawks fans are gonna have to suffer through these kind of posts for the length of bedards career.

Even if Bedsy wanted out, he has no control over that until his age 25 season. That's 6 more seasons. His options until then are (1) play for the Hawks (2) sit out and don't play at all (3) go play in the KHL. I guess he could go to court and try to have the CBA invalidated, but that doesn't seem likely. He literally has no leverage to force a trade to Vancouver or anywhere else. So this whole discussion is pointless.

He also seems like a standup person, so I couldn't see him doing that no matter what team he played for.

Doesn't matter what bedard wants, he can play for the Hawks or go to Europe....quite literally those are his options and the league, his agent, and all the influences around him are not going to allow him to go to Europe. He would be a minimum of 5 years out from having any legal contract control of his destiny so your post here, is not only 95% unlikely, it is 99% not happening anytime soon. That said, if the 1% chance the Hawks agreed to a trade, Bedard will 100% not have his option where to go and the price to gain his contractual ELC and RFA rights would be literally sky high, so in other words, not only is the idea 99% unlikely but 100% there is zero chance what you proposed as a trade is based in any sort of reality.

Chicago rolled out the red carpet for him and he's pretty much worshiped there. He'll have the ability to write his own check when his contract is up unlike in Vancouver where his cap hit would hinder his ability to maximize his value. He's getting the C in Chicago sooner than he would in Vancouver too. Also being in the third largest market, he has a better chance of making more in marketing. Aside from "coming home" it's more advantageous for him to stay in Chicago.

First off you need to stop, the Canucks didn’t win the lottery and therefore they didn’t get Bedard… it’s done, move on, this inability to let go is not healthy.

Second, if you followed Bedard at all through junior you would know that forcing a trade is not in his DNA. He didn’t force Regina to trade him when he was drafted into the WHL. During his last season he refused to be traded to a contender and chose to stick with his Regina teammates and fight for a playoff spot. He doesn’t tuck tail and run, he digs in and prepares for the battle.

Lastly, if I decide to entertain a deal for Bedard it will undoubtedly includes ATLEAST one of Pettersson, Hughes, Miller, Demko or Hronek, not just futures like you propose…. Why? Well let me tell you, to trade Bedard to the Canucks and watch him develop into the player he is expected to become, all the while playing on an already good Canucks team with the aforementioned players guarantees that Vancouver’s future first round picks for the foreseeable future fall in the 30 - 32 range. So while you probably believe you are offering a lot, the truth is those first round picks will more then likely be bottom half the roster players and not high level producers or stars.
