We don't need Zegras we need gritty forward. Roy would be great but can we afford that much money in top 4 d? He's going to cost 5.75-6.25 six year minimum

Zegras is not worth top 10 pick

Ignorance is always so amusing.

8th overall pick: first 94 games, 20 goals, 31 assists, 51 points, -6
Trevor Zegras: first 99 games, 26 goals, 48 assists, 74 points, -15

7th overall pick, career to date: 263 games, 62 goals, 95 assists, 157 points, -44
Trevor Zegras, career to date: 200 games, 53 goals, 93 assists, 146 points, -44 (includes 14 games this season played while injured and three shifts in his last game before breaking his ankle)

63 games is kind of the entire season to date, isn't it?

He is this shiny thing, that looks great on the outside, but is not very useful.
Sabres does not need that kind of player, they have Skinner.

Gee, I don't know, to me, 0.73 PPG is more useful than 0.6 PPG or 0.54 PPG, especially when the 0.6 PPG is over a sample of 263 games.

The only Sabres forwards who have a higher PPG are Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson. But maybe I'm wrong, and Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn aren't very useful.

And before we get into a discussion about Zegras' perceived defensive shortcomings, allow me to point out that Rasmus Dahlin is -75 for his career.

(Full disclosure: it wouldn't occur to me to claim that Zegras has anywhere near the same worth as RD.)

Honestly, from Buffalo, nothing, you guys don't draft the type of players we like with your early picks.

And if you wanted this to happen, why not just keep Mitts?

I just told you, Zegras is only about those PPG. One dimentional player who is not even putting absurd numbers to justify trading for im. Sabres have Skinner for putting 0.73 ppg and play no defense what so ever, and he is already becoming big issue when those number dropped.

Quinn and Cozens play 200 yrd hockey, both playing on PK and PP.

Sabres have one decent defensive season during Dahlins tenure, so his number must be bad.

No, Cozens doesn't, he's just as bad defensively as Zegras, your centers not playing a strong enough 200 ft game plus a defense too focused on offense is why your goalies have so much trouble. If you threw any of Buffalos goalies behind a Vegas or Boston defense they would probably be 0.920 guys for good stretches of the season.

And again, Zegras is 22, he's got his best hockey still in front of him, unlike Skinner who's on the back 9 of his career.

If Cozens is a 200-foot player, why is he the same -44 that Trevor Zegras is?

If Quinn plays on the power play and penalty kill, why is his total career special-team output two power-play goals this season and one short-handed assist last season?

If Dahlin's plus-minus is inflated due to the fact that Buffalo has been defensively bad for all but one season of his career, how would you characterize Anaheim's defense for Zegras' entire career? Do you think that might have something to do with your perception that Zegras is "one dimensional," i.e., bad defensively?

Guys, I do realize Sabres sucks. But I also realize that Zegras is not the solution to any of Sabres problem.

And you said, Sabres are bad defensively, are commited to players bad defensively and adding anoter bad defensively player is bad move, without establishing if Zegras is worth top 10 pick

Well, now, that's an entirely different argument, and an entirely defensible one, too -- and one with which I at least agree. And I also agree that at this stage of his career, Zegras isn't very good defensively. But there is both room and plenty of time for improvement.
