The ask for Buchnevich alone is already equal value to at least 2 1sts then you add in 50% retention for 1.5 years. Price goes way up and then you’re adding a legit top 4 right handed d-man? Leafs don’t have the assets to pull this kinda move off. Even if they talked about it, if they’re offer didn’t include Minten and Cowan then it’s not even thought about as serious

this is a hot take, but i don't understand ACGMs thinking there should be some sort of "leafs" tax when it comes to trades in general. i dont think we must include either minten, cowan, or niemela as part of the st. louis trade. looking at the hanifin and tarasenko deals, not a lot of people will complain about the return despite it being mid to awful. when it comes to the leafs, people start saying "oh leafs need 3+ 1sts and cowan+" in order to just get someone like parayko. plus, i don't believe we have bad blood with st. louis as after all, we did do the ROR trade with them. this is not calgary refusing to trade with toronto because treliving exists.

respectfully, if you disagree with this, you're either admitting that you hate the Leafs or you are still stuck in the past with dubas-era leafs.

Exactly no one said you have to do 3 1sts and Cowan for Parayko. That's just fiction. Almost every TML offer for Parayko is obvious garbage. Just like this AGM's offer. It's stunning to realize that there are people out there who imagine these offers are good or fair. It's always a bunch of mid stuff you want to give up, and nothing the other team would want.
