The exact same trade that Chicago did with Vancouver pretty much.

Fair deal.

Chicago got Anthony Beauvillier for just over 20 games and in exchange, they went DOWN in the draft. On the other hand, I wasn't expecting more given his performance in Chicago, so fair trade.

Anthony Beauvillier played worse in Chicago than in Vancouver, despite getting better ice time. What happened?

4th team in 13 months. Obviously not a good sign, even if Trotz knows him.

I remember when Beauvillier was expected to be a number 1 liner in the NHL. Sad to see how he's turned out. Hope he can turn it around and become a solid top 6 player

Voted Chicago because no one else did yet lol.

But honestly they got a pick out of dumping a contract and cap that they can use tomorrow to take on other contracts/cap

This is the best way to spin it if you are a Hawks fan. They will be able to weaponize the cap space.

This feels more like Hawks opening up a roster spot more than anything else. AA will be activated off IR Saturday, Nazar likely signs once the college season ends, and I believe they still plan on recalling Reichel at some point before the season ends

I really like Beauvillier, and so does Trotz. Getting a guy with that kind of upside for a 5th is very good for the Preds

Isn't this like trading away Trenin to later trade to get a Trenin, except also throwing away $3M? Granted, only 1month of that amount, but still makes little sense to me...or is $3M the cost of moving a 5th round pick to a 3rd round pick? Madness...

Yes but essentially all they’ve done is move DOWN in the draft by nearly 20 spots. Chicago’s 5th which will be 1st or 2nd is going to VAN while NSH 5th which will be about 16-20th is going to the Hawks. All for 2 goals and 4 assists in 20+ games.

I don’t trust KD to weaponize it tbh. He’s done good by taking on bad contracts with 2nd rounders attached but he’s never been party to a three way trade.

Given that it's the 5th round, a lot of the prospects that were supposed to go in the 3rd or 4th rounds, but were passed over by other teams, will still be available.

And the Hawks currently have 7 different picks for 2024 that are in higher rounds.

So, whoever the Hawks would have taken at the top of the 5th round will have been passed over multiple times by the Hawks as well.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Only about 15-20 draft positions in the fifth. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you think him getting a 5th for a depth player somehow makes Davidson good, then I have bad news for you.

I never said it was good. But you didn’t say it was bad. I feel you’re making progress.
