(Pulls pin on Grenade) - I Love the whole Sabres don't need Byram argument. I get the righty/lefty thing, but statistically, that D core is terrible. Dude immediately becomes the second best D on that team (that's not hyperbole, check the stats, counting and fancy), likely leads the team in 5v5 time and, checks notes, has won a cup, so maybe he can be a positive force on a team that has done bupkis over the last 13 years. Maybe take on the talent and jettison the pieces that are not working.

The pieces that aren't working are someone that played through what ended up being a season ending injury, a 2nd year 21 year old, and a 100 year old RD man that brings down all of his line mates. They don't need to trade Mittelstadt so they aren't just going to throw him away for a random player in hopes he's a slight upgrade, in a position they're already deep in, they're going to go after a position of need

And never played that many games in his 3 NHL seasons before this one. The most was 42 games last year.
