Trying to Make a Guentzel Trade based on the style of Elias Lindholm Trade

Description
I'm using the Elias Lindholm trade as a basis as to what Guentzel might return
Transactions
1.
PIT
  1. Mikheyev, Ilya
  2. Mynio, Sawyer
  3. Räty, Aatu
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2025 (VAN)
  5. Choix de 4e ronde en 2025 (VAN)
Détails additionnels:
Explanation:

Mikheyev: A NHL-ready player that could replace Guentzel for the time being until either Pens trade him or find another player to replace Guentzel's spot.

Sawyer Mynio: 3rd round prospect that is also 18. Youngster prospect for Pens

Aatu Raty: Center prospect (a position Pens need better prospects in). Now while he was drafted in the 2nd round, it could still work in this deal.

2025 1st: self-explanatory

2025 4th: Conditional pick (Condition could be if Canucks make finals, the pick becomes a 2025 2nd)

Now in this case, Canucks would be gaining $1.25M in cap, so if they request retention, they could either upgrade the 4th to their 2024 3rd or just throw on another pick.
2.
PIT
  1. Brisson, Brendan
  2. Dorofeyev, Pavel
  3. Korczak, Kaedan
  4. Choix de 1e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
  5. Choix de 3e ronde en 2024 (VGK)
  6. Choix de 4e ronde en 2025 (VGK)
Détails additionnels:
2 of the 3 prospects listed would be traded (Dubas takes the pick)

2024 3rd is for Reilly Smith

2025 4th is conditional (becomes a 3rd if Vegas reaches WCF)

Another view of the structure but with a combo deal and no form of a "cap dump"
VGK
  1. Smith, Reilly

1 - I think Guentzel can get more than Lindholm, who was not exactly having a fine season.

2 - Why split the value into six pieces (seven if you count the retention)? Condense the value, grasshopper. Quality over quantity.

I would much rather do the Vegas deal than the Vancouver one. It looks good to me. But again, Dubas is looking for multiple high-end prospects - he might not get that though

I've said this before, but Dubas has to be on something if he thinks he's getting a value of 2 1sts for Guentzel. Even if the team he gets traded to resigns him, I highly doubt that any team would give Dubas 2 1sts in value.

I know he might not, but at the same time Guentzel is a high quality player. He is far better than Lindholm, who essentially got that sort of return (although Kuzmenko might have complicated that). He's a far better player than guys who have gotten good returns as rentals in past deadlines

That’s a lot more than Vancouver gave up for Lindholm.

How so?

Raty is the Canucks' 4th best prospect on Scott Wheeler's recent list. Brzustewicz is Calgary's 5th best in a pool Wheeler ranked a couple spots higher than Vancouver's. So I'm willing to say that they're fairly close in value as prospects.
Mynio is probably a little better of a prospect than Jurmo.
Kuzmenko and Mikheyev have pretty comprable statlines this year. I think Kuzmenko's great '22-'23 would make him a bit more valueable, GMs can look at that as something they could get from him. Mikheyev doesn't have a season like that.

Both are a package of a middle 6 winger, B/B+ prospect, C prospect, 1st, and 4th.

you seem a bit bitter that Dubas is going to get the value that a player is worth.

You should really get over it.
There are like 8-9 teams interested in Guentzel.
They don't have to accept every bad offer you imagine in your head.

You are right.. For some reason I was thinking the young AHL winger instead of the vet Russian, but unlike with Lindholm … there isn’t a salary slot that can predictably keep him. My assumption is they could go after a cheaper option like Toffoli

That would be a weak offer from Vancouver. The Vegas offer is much better. Kuzmenko is actually a productive player unlike Mikheyev.

In his prime also, let's not forget that. Normally these trades or comps for a Guentzel trade (obviously Lindholm isn't but just in general some of the other comps I've seen including Giroux) were for guys 32+. Guentzel is 29 and playing his best hockey...

both teams decline and ask Dubas to stop wasting their time. well... maybe Jim Rutherford doesn't cause he likes giving up everything for what he wants. bro gave a first for Ryan reaves back in his penguin days

Lindholm is certainly not playing his best, so point still stands!

Right. Guentzel is better anyways and you're right. Not saying to you specifically at all in fact just the opposite with your proposals but particularly I'm seeing Carolina fans saying things like "a rental is worth a 1st and b prospect" and that includes Guentzel. Well first 33 year old Tarasenko (100% no question asked a rental) is going to get a 1st and if you think the difference between Guentzel (even as a rental) and Tarasenko is a B prospect you're nuts. So not saying specifically to you just saying in general as ppl give their comps that you have to remember Guentzel is still in the prime of his prime right now as you consider a trade. I agree with your observations...
