No thank you. And just so you know, any time you add Anderson in to a Blues trade, you've probably already crashed it.

That said, I applaud you putting Reinbacher up. At least there's one piece to latch onto here.

Would agree. There's alot of downside to it. But I'd imagine the general thought is it would save us from having to rob peter to pay paul on the backend. There isn't going to be a perfect fix, but adding a Reinbacher caliber d prospect should be equally as important to almost anyone on our roster outside of Thomas.

We're not teardown tanking. We're not just punting Thomas' entire prime. We all know this already. I'm really not sure why it's still a discussion. Besides, Anderson alone eats up most of the two late 1sts by himself.

It's never getting accepted. Again, we already know this.

Just a thought tank. But I don't think this really pushes towards a full on retool to the degree moving Parayko would. This also solves the major lapse in our prospect pool of having a solid bet at a #1 defenseman. The liklihood of a top line winger shaking free via trade or via UFA is much higher than the liklihood of a top end D man. Reinbacher may never get there, but he's probably a pretty sure bet to be a top 4 guy. No deal isn't going to have risk. I like Kyrou and think his contract is going to age well as well, but I don't really see him being irreplaceable like Thomas, and too a degree Parayko currently are.

Boatload of real dollars on Anderson's deal could be a concern. But his deal ends right when the Faulk/Krug contracts end and realistically it's fairly buyout friendly in 2 years. Certainly not ideal, but overcomable. It's just alot to be saddled with all of that cap from Anderson, Schenn, Krug, Faul, Leddy, Hayes, and Saad when it's no gaurantee that aside from Faulk and Leddy they are going to be top half of the lineup players for any clubs. I include Leddy because while he's in way over his head, he has played fairly well while being here.

I don’t see this as a tank and would feel the Blues would be closer to winning another cup if they did this than they are today.

Blues need to rebuild. The Anderson addition is just for cap reasons. Not like theyll need the 5,5m anytime soon

1 - You don't think trading an all-star caliber player/best Blues player's best Buddy who is entering his prime but has not reached his peak yet for a 19 yo and two late 1sts that only pay for a massive dump signals a teardown? It would be difficult to come up with a more teardown-y maneuver.

And lots of folks didn't think losing all the excellent young players and established stars we've driven out of town for one dumb reason or another would be that bad, but look at that all turned out.

2 - Every single solitary thing about Anderson goes well past concerning. And buyouts are not a favor. He's a non-starter.

What are you on about?

- No, they do not.
- "Cap reasons" are for you and your team, that means beyond nothing to the Blues. And they sure as hell ain;t free.
- And yes, they sure as hell will. Because they are not Chicago.

I love it. A Habs fan telling another team they won;t need cap for a while. Funny stuff.

I have no idea how you finagled that math. It's a pure tank move. Taking out one of your best players to add pure futures and a crap dump is as tank-y as it gets, man. What could be tankier?

The Blues don’t think as highly as Kyrou as you do and this gives them a potential #1 dman that is more valuable than a winger

Ever heard of the saying, take a step back to take 2 forward. Thats what the Blues needs to do. Strip the team, suck for a few years and then be better than mediocre

Nope. That would be beyond idiocy, if not franchise suicide. And totally unnecessary, to boot.

Dude, nobody needs lectures on avoiding enduring mediocrity from the Habs, thanks.

There's no incentive for Winnipeg to pay a 1st to take back a far worse contract. If the Jets are paying that much it needs to be a player that fills a need, not an offense only player that was traded to Montreal as a cap dump.

1 - Source? The clear reality here is the Blues think far more highly of Kyrou than you do. You got that one backwards. But I'm really not in the mood to relitigate this. The facts of the case to date are not on your side here.

2 - Any random potential #1 Dman is inherently more valuable than any winger? Since when? And one would need to wait some years for that potential #1 Dman to even make the scene. Meanwhile, Kyrou's best buddy Thomas is ****ing pissed on multiple levels.

I have to ask: are you guys actually trying to run Thomas off by way of mistreating Kyrou? Coz that's exactly what you'd be doing. Players actually want to be in STL, to play for the Blues. But sure, let's show them all that is no longer the case. Now we run off all-star caliber 25 yos because unreasonable fan tantrums divorced from reality. That;s how we run the franchise now.

I actually like that offer for Kyrou. I think it’s fair maybe slight overpay but I would do it as a Habs fan.

As always - you know more than everyone. Kyrou’s name has been floated in trades by the Blues before. Latest being Gauthier but they couldn’t make $ work with Philly.

You can believe whatever you want. I’m fairly certain Blues would do this.

Also not sure where you get the idea that Thomas and Kyrou are “best buddies”.

Jeremy Rutherford was on 101 ESPN last week and said there’s a 60% Kyrou is moved before his NTC kicks in July 2025 and he’d be shocked if Rouzy finishes his contract here. Obviously that’s just his opinion but the majority of the fan base is tired of his lackluster play too while being paid the most. If the Blues can get Reinbacher plus 2 firsts I’d take that deal any day. Snuggerud and Dvorsky will replace Kyrou next season anyway.

No "offense only" players have ~55% defensive deployment at even strength and are top 30 for short handed TOI per game.
Nor are any defensemen that are top 15 in points considered "cap dumps" any more (regardless of what they may have been before).
Monahan was a cap dump at one time. Of course Winnipeg has no use for him and certainly wouldn't give up a 1st.
A top pairing defenseman averaging over 25 minutes a game playing in all situations for under $5M being a "worse contract" than a 3rd pairing defender at a shade under $6M is quite the statement.

That's 3 strikes, you're out.

He was a cap dump when traded to Montreal. Pittsburgh insisted that Montreal take him.

The Jets are finished with Schmidt's contract next year, they'd be stuck with Matheson 's bloated deal for another 2 and the Jets have actual good players coming up that need raises.

Matheson is too expensive to play another 2 seasons behind Morrissey when the Jets need a good defensive RH defenseman.

Why waste assets on another LHD when the Jets need an RHD?

He's an average 2nd pairing D and has never been considered top pairing by anyone.

If these players we're as good as Montreal fans tell us they are, Montreal wouldn't consistently be one of the worst teams in the league.

6 strikes you're out twice.
