My preference is Don Sweeney sits this one out and lets Hanifin get traded to another market. Wait until free agency and assess who the best fit is with whom makes the market.

I don’t believe Noah Hanifin is the key to unlocking a championship season. He is a nice defender that would be great if acquired via free agency just like Brady Skjei or Gustav Forsling. Two other left D that offer similar games who will likely hit FA. Didn’t realize Montour was also a free agent though we probably need a lefty more than a righty.

Part of me is hoping he gets traded to Tampa Bay. The concept of a scorned Steven Stamkos in Boston trying to prove a point might be pretty interesting
