Anyone saying that is an overpay for Ottawa, is either a blind homer, or outright stupid. There is very little in terms of value.
The Bruins pick is by far the best piece and it could easily be #32. Markstrom is worth more than that on his own.
Forsberg and Hamonic are straight up cap dumps. There is nothing particularly inspiring about Bernard-Docker, Brannstrom or Ostapchuk, and a 2nd and a 3rd are just that. It's a whole lot of sizzle and no steak. It doesn't matter ow high you stack you meh assets, it's still a pile of meh

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaun80</b></div><div>That's my dream scenario too, Jersey fans don't like it though</div></div>
My dream scenario is winning the lottery, drafting Celebrini, then adding another high 1st and also drafting Iginla.

One massive trade with Ottawa
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>emoprettyboy</b></div><div>my “Norris doesn’t have negative value” point was about how I wouldn’t do the deal without Norris, so the only way it’d make sense *with* him would be if he had negative value, which we all agree that he doesn’t</div></div>
There was a reason why I broke it up like I did, even stated it in the description. While you might not agree with the Sens paying to dump Korpi, or giving up a 1st for Markstrom... if you remove those parts, it's Mangiapane for Norris.
It's Korpi that has negative value and with 4 years left, it is a lot of negative value IMO.

One massive trade with Ottawa
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>emoprettyboy</b></div><div>I can appreciate the thinking that was put into this, but a lot of it just isn't there. Ottawa is absolutely not in a position to be trading their 2025 1st, and based on Staios' whole "patience" thing, it seems pretty much all but guaranteed not to happen. Norris, idk, I just wouldn't do it. and Korpisalo, his buyout is really reasonable, the Sens can definitely afford to go that route rather than spending an entire 1st on it. I wouldn't do two 1sts and a 2nd alone to dump Korpisalo and get Markstrom and Mangiapane, and Norris is absolutely not at a "negative value" stage yet</div></div>
You make some fair points... except no one is suggesting Norris has negative value, Mangiapane is a solid 2nd line winger and I imagine he'd be willing to re-sign.

Kane can make a ton in bonuses, his AAV means nothing. I love Monahan, one of my favorite players ever, but his injury history is going to make it hard to get more than a 1 year contract until he has multiple healthy seasons.

Dont keep Markstrom
1. Don't trust Frank Seravalli
2. On the off chance he's right, teams compete for the playoffs because they're a business and a playoff appearance means millions in revenue, most of it being profit.

0 chance the Flames get that much. That's like more than 3 firsts.
At most it would be 2 of Howard, Gauthier and '26 1st. Then maybe a defenseman coming back like Perbix.

to maximize his value. if he's not as good next season his trade value drops, if he is good again, his trade value doesn't increase much and his cost to re-sign skyrockets. I love the guy, but if it's unlikely he's a flame beyond 24-25, it's smarter to move him now

I think it makes sense for both teams and for Kuz. You rid yourself of Kuznetsov, he gets a fresh start. While we already took Kuzmenko in hopes of a bounce back season next year to sell him for something at the deadline, This doesn't change that plan just which Kuz, increases the odds of a bounce back IMO, and we get a pick.
