Just testing the waters. JVR is on a 1x1m, 37 points in 56 games I think a team tight to the cap would love him as a deadline pickup. I just picked the Aves because they are in the West and most likely going to have a higher pick

JVR may be worth that but he doesn’t fit what the Avs are looking for

The package of picks I made seems a little high but JD is the player that is going to be a 30 goal scorer the second he leaves the Bruins. Plus an extension would have to be in place for EDM to even consider

No we weren't. Holtz for Markstrom with some retention was apparently on the table. Calgary fans then, with no basis, convinced themselves a 1st+Holtz was involved for an unretained Markstrom

The last time a reigning vezina winner was traded wasn't too long ago. It was Fleury and he got a 2nd round pick with conditions to upgrade to a 1st

No way is someone going to trade a 1st and Holtz for either of the two year wonders (Markstrom or Ullmark). They have no good track record beyond 2 in the last 3 years. Maybe they're better now, but that's a gamble and it wouldn't warrent much beyond a 2nd.

conditions based on a player re-signing are not allowed in the NHL.

this is also just a horrible concept all around.

Edmonton isn't paying that much for a rental, they don't have the cap space and you can't make picks conditional on re-signing anymore.
