Description
Is the lineup too young? Probably, but got to admit, it’d be fun to watch:)
Don’t take this post too seriously, if I was Hugo I wouldn’t do a lot of these moves just having some fun with it on a tipsy Sunday afternoon.

I think calgary wouldn't risk their 1st, considering they'll be sellers at the deadline. More likely it'd be a 2nd for Harris

Value is about right for ANA if a Verbeek ‘my guy’ is available when that MTL pick is on the clock (my guess is Lindstrom and Levshunov). That said, I’d still hope they decline

Trade would only be at the draft when the Flames know exactly where they’ll pick, I’m assuming they’ll just miss the playoffs this year meaning a mid round pick.

all looks ok to me. that zegras trade needs a bit of work. i dont see montreal losing a top 5-6 pick.

Where there’s smoke there usually is fire. Really sounds like Zegras will be moved, and don’t worry it doesn’t come without sacrifice. If Lindstrom is still on the board it’ll be some hard pick to move for MTL…but I think I’d still do it.

I don’t think they are buying or selling but the truth of the matter is they are in a playoff spot and have cap space. They could use a veteran goalie and all it would cost them is a couple late rounders, I say why not?

It’d be tough especially if Lindstrom is still on the board, but the thing is we could use a top 6 talent now, not in 3-4 years. Zegras won’t come cheap but I think this is a deal that can work out for both clubs considering each’s stage of their respective rebuilds.

Well I think it will cost more than that tbh...and if they wanted a veteran it would probably be a rental only. They definitely do not want Allen for another season. Plus they have said publicly that they want to see what Peterson has. He is signed for another season at $5m. And if we don't sell this fan base will be very upset so I would be surprised if they don't sell.

Really? Idk if the Habs were surprisingly in a playoff spot this late in the season I wouldn’t expect them to buy but I’d be a bit pissed if they decided to sell.

Once they sell off Tanev and Hanifan I imagine they'll drop in the standings. If Iginla is still going to be available close to where they pick I can't see them moving it.

I can only see this happening if they rly want to trade down for Tij Iginla, but I doubt he'd be availible at WPG's pick

Well we have a few players on expiring contracts so those players could be moved. The big thing for Flyers fans is that the organization was so mismanaged for years, trying to compete and giving away futures has kept this team mediocre for years. This season is a surprise but it's because we finally have Couts back giving us a #1 center and Torts has the team playing harder than any other team in the league. However, things are starting to catch up to us. Couts has struggled lately, which isn't surprising from a player that missed 2 seasons. Other players are banged up as well. If the Flyers stand pat and they miss the playoffs the fans will lose their minds.

Not in today’s clickbait media my man. Tune in at 7 minutes, rumors were way overblown and can be summarized to: a hockey GM received an offer on his player and turned it down. Z isn’t going anywhere unless someone sends through something so good ANA can’t help but accept (which would be more than just fair value imo)

You'll notice the news has been walked back. First it was Zegras is available, then it was Verbeek was bringing up his name, implying that Verbeek was the one making the calls.

Now it's "Verbeek is willing to listen, but he's not, nor has he, called anyone about Zegras".

Sure, if a team is willing to offer up serious value that fills holes in your roster, you'll listen for a player at a position you have significant depth at.

They were the suggested team to be interested when Harris’ name popped up in the rumour mill, as simple as that. And they’re not giving up a first pick in this scenario they are moving back in the first round to receive a young capable dman.

“Insert GM name here” is not shopping “insert player name here” at this current time but is listening to offers which by no means signifies he feels obligated to move “above mentioned player”.

Sounds familiar? C’mon guys, this is modern GM code for this guy is available, who’s gonna be the highest bidder? Not saying this is the deal that gets it done but I think it’s a solid offer.

Sure Calgary might pay a 3rd at most and even then not interested, let alone moving back 15-20 spots in the first round at the start of a rebuild/retool.

Outside of Crosby/Bedard type players that are unmovable without question, you’d have to be utterly incompetent as a GM to not even listen to offers for your assets. Hell, if someone called for Leo and said I have an offer that’ll blow you away, why not hear it out?

The inside knowledge that we know is that ANA has never called anyone about Zegras, nor brought up his name in a trade. You can pretend to be privy to ‘GM code’, but to extrapolate those two facts to ‘really sounds like Zegras will be moved’ is lacking reason.

If you want to conclude that Zegras is not untouchable? 1,000%. Anything beyond that is just wishful thinking on the part of a fan hoping his team would acquire him. Which trust me, I can understand. We love him in ANA

Calgary is retooling and have a number of UFAs on defense.
With the exodus of pending free agents, it's not surprising they may want some younger players under team control for several years.
It's also not "giving up" a 1st, it's moving back a few spots because they are getting a 1st back. The actual difference won't be known until the draft, and the trade can wait until then.
