Edmonton doesn't have the pieces to land Jake Guentzel. And they don't have the salary cap to re-sign him this coming summer. And as yourself. Those pieces would easily be beat by other teams that have better picks and prospects/players.

I would maybe do it, it hurts to lose Mcleod but JG is a beast of a player.

JG is gonna go for a B prospect + a 1st + a 2nd. Edmonton has those things.

Broberg is worth like a 3rd.

JG is not dependent on Crosby I don't know where that came from, this is no where near an overpayment if anything JG could probably grab more. The only thing I'm hesitant on is losing Mcleod

Jake is a top line winger and all you’ve proven is you don’t know the Pens. Go look at how Jake a ppg player WITHOUT Crosby. Jake is a legit top winger, probably top 12-15 in the whole league. He’s by a mile the best player available at the deadline.

You’re right…Guentzel isn’t Stone. Stone didn’t have a single ppg season before he got traded. Guentzel is currently on pace for his 4th. Stone had a 7.3 million contract with a lesser cap ceiling , Guentzel is 6 million and a higher cap ceiling. Stone didn’t come with retention, Guentzel is coming with 50% retention. Stone has never had a 30 goal season, much less a 40 goal season like Guentzel has.
Guentzel doesn’t ride Crosby’s coattails lol. Tell us you don’t watch the pens without telling us. Guentzel is still a ppg player away from Crosby and Malkin. Guentzel had 40 goals and 84 points the season the pens started the year without Crosby and Malkin due to both having surgery in the offseason. So his centers were Jeff Carter and Evan Rodrigues that year to start.

Mark Stone never scored more even 30+ goals or had over 62 pts before he was traded. There are 5 active players in the NHL with more 40+ goal seasons than Guentzel. Guentzel is 9th all time in goals/play off game and 1 of 11 active players averaging a ppg in the playoffs (with a sample size of 60 games). He's basically a ppg player with a sample size of 500 games. What a bad take
