Typical quantity over quality

It's amazing that people seem to think Jake would somehow get LESS than Monahan and Lindholm when he's the superior player.

I think the problem with Jake getting traded is that everyone knows he is signing in Pittsburgh this summer. What Phili got for Claude seems to be the price, the Montreal 2nd is basically a playoff team 1st, Pittsburgh wants Winnipeg 1st next year instead that would be the pick. Maybe another prospect name. Anyway, fans think they know prospects but they just spit out what they read from another source. Also, Winnipeg fans will also **** that they don't need another winger...but they do need another scorer and I am sure the coaches don't give a **** if that scorer plays goalie haha

This trade STARTS with a 1st and a top prospect. You can try to "capfriendly" your away around this, but your trade is insulting and nonsensical.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nhl/2024-nhl-trade-deadline-the-five-buyer-teams-with-the-best-prospect-assets/ar-BB1ibcAi You will probably sift through the teams that would use Jake in this article for what it is worth. Do you see Jake re-signing in Pittsburgh if he is traded this year?

It doesn't matter. That's not how value is assessed in a deadline trade. You're literally making up your own logic.

Sure. We will see. I thought he would get more than we hear up here but we will see. Obviously, not someone many people view as moving the needle. Maybe the Crosby effect.

We won't see because Jake isn't getting moved and if you are seriously thinking that one of the most consistent goal scorers in the league doesn't move the needle then you're showing your ignorance, and there is no Crosby affect.

You're really just embarrassing yourself.

Value can definitely be effected by a players likeliness to resign if they know he is re-signing in pitt they're not going to throw the wagon in for him but he still gets a 1st and good prospect as a 1 year rental imo

This is a joke of an offer. Somehow people keep making offers for less than Monahan and Lindholm. It's pretty amazing.

Only in very specific situations. Most deadline deals are viewed as rentals and that's not debatable. He woudln't get less than Lindholm or Monahan. He'd get more.

that's hilarious.

You don't quite understand that you have to give up assets to acquire someone like Guentzel.

If the new rumor is a Giroux like trade then Perfetti would be about as comparable as you can get. 22, 10th over all, has played around 100 games in the NHL. Tippett was 22/23 when traded from FLA, 10th over all, about 100 games with FLA.

That's about as on the nose as you can get in comparison to the deal.

I put Chibrikov in because you don't have a 24 1st and would have to make it a 25 1st.

To be fair though…Perfetti is better than Tippett was at the time of the Giroux trade. I’d be ok with a 2025 1st and Perfetti tbh. Especially if it’s an unprotected 1st or only like top 5 protected.

Sorry, TIppett is not comparable to Perfetti. Straight up would be a debate that would only be won by the Jake camp if WInnipeg has a lot of playoff success. One for one might be a good hockey trade. I am not one to have fantasies with young players. Sports fans obviously love gambling.

Some Penguin fans are going to be pretty disappointed with Guentzel's return. Thinking that they're getting a young top 6 forward plus for a rental isn't realistic at all.

I disagree that he would for sure get more than Lindholm. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t see Jake being traded. Many reasons I say this:
Crosby effect is legit. I would point to how good Lindholm was with Tkachuk and Gaudreau. That’s the player I would compare to Jake with Crosby. Compare apples to apples as if they both have the luxury of really good teammates.
Lindholm is a center and that comes at a premium.
Acquiring Lindholm would be more likely to have a shot at resigning him, in theory.
I don’t see Jake fetching a first and Barlow for example, without him being resigned. And as I’ve said, I don’t see him being trade at all.
This offer is far superior than what the jets gave up for Monahan. That 2nd is maybe only 6 picks or so worse than the jets first. Chibrikov is a decent prospect and type of guy Pitt needs to add to their system. Barron and Kupari are both good bottom 6 players that would help Pitt compete while Crosby is around. If I’m the jets, it would take more than a 2nd rounder to pry Barron away from me, for an idea of value

people seem to think you can give up a sweaty pair of socks and some pucks for a 2 time 40 goal scorer and someone thats a PPG player in the playoffs.

Those wingers aren't growing on trees.

You want to play to win, you have to give something up.

Well aware of that, put you're also not getting proven 22 year old with team control for 3 months of Guentzel, Lambert or Lucuis even Barkow and a pick would be much more realistic
