Quoting: aecliptic
Horvat was 3 years younger. Horvat was coming off a 30g season, and already had scored 30g at the time of the trade to the Isles. Jenner has scored over 20 goals 3 times (recently in b2b years), the last time he scored 30 was 2016. Hes never scored over 50 points.
This trade is pretty much on par with the Horvat trade. You got your 1st, you got your B prospect, however rather than a roster player youre gonna get another prospect and a 4th.
Those are fair points, and I love the Horvat trade as a model, but the big differences (market and contract) between the Horvat trade and a Jenner trade really can't be understated. It's an insane center market, which has recently been set by the Lindholm and Monahan trades; it definitely favors sellers. Add on that CBJ have explicitly said Jenner isn't available (where everyone knew Vancouver was looking to move Horvat), it would take a ransom to pry him loose. Plus, you're not staring down the barrel of offering an $8.5M contract to the guy in the offseason.
I think it's getting there in terms of value, but market + team situation + player contract could still force the return to 1st, 2nd, A-prospect IMO. Been saying that for months, and nothing that's transpired recently has led me to believe that's impossible or even unlikely.
If Jenner gets moved, it's going to take a "oh holy f***" offer that puts the league on notice, and this one just isn't there yet. Just my two cents.
