My Trade Deadline

Description
Lohrei a direct replacement for Hanifin in Calgary. Calgary would get a 1st in another deal but that player likely will not be better than Lohrei who is NHL ready. I love Ullmark and don't think the Bruins trade him until the offseason but I think it is time to capitalize on a deal for him. If not LA I would look to another team will high playoff hopes, ie: the Devils. Nico Sturm for Matt Grzelcyk is a straight swap. Maybe Grier can re-sign Grzelcyk (Boston connections) or flip him for a pick.

Probably right but like I said the 1st they get from another team will be a late pick and likely will not be better than Lohrei.

The return would be a 1st and Lohrei not one or the other

The Bruins aren't going trade Ullmark mid-season. They'll shop him at the draft again.

I'm still against trading Lohrei for Hanifin. I would rather them get forward depth or a Middleton type.

Swap Steen for a 2nd you might have shot.

LA declines. No cap space. Plus…Talbot has same stats as Ullmark this year. Don’t really see the point.

SJ declines expiring contract Grizz has zero value to them without an extension and i doubt either party would be interested.

1. If you offered Forbort or Grz, Lohrei, a 2nd, and a prospect like Merkulov, Harrison or Jelvik for Hanifin (w/ enough retention to make him salary neutral to Forbort or Grz) … I think it should be a serious consideration. Only way Boston does that is if they feel there is a risk that he may sign elsewhere. Reports are he has a large contingent of family and friends the Bruins game two days ago, If they are confident, they keep the players and the picks

2. Linus Ullmark is 4th in the league in GSAx/60 for goaltenders with more than 15 starts. Hes at .501. Talbott is 32nd at .081. They are not even remotely close. That said, the Kings leadership staff has made the decision to go with a cheap goalie and hope for league average performance. That’s what they are getting. Its by design, so they won’t trade for Ullmark, I could see a scenario where they offer PLD for Ullmark and other considerations to get out of that contract, but they probably show patience based on their public disclosures about their goalie positions. If they did that, it would be more to get off of PLD than to acquire Ullmark even though it gives them more much long term salary flexibility

Their GAA and SV% are almost identical. Yes a deeper dive shows that is misleading due to the inordinate amount of high danger chances Ully has faced this year. Considering their tandem’s cap hit they have gotten plenty of bang for their buck. Their lack of cap space makes it difficult to upgrade.

No interest at all in PLD…none…but i have been toying around with 3 way deals, with Ully/Grizz/3rd piece going to LA, PLD going somewhere (Chicago or Montreal being the ones I use most), and high end prospects to Boston.

Fixes a pair of LA problems while moving PLD before trade protection kicks in.
Boston gets a blue chip center prospect, light blue but blue, and other decent piece(s) and cap space to pursue Noah + needs.
Fun to play around with, but pipe dream.

With injuries, Boston’s defensive structure hasn’t been as good this year primarily because of injury even though the goalie play gets artificially downgraded. His GSAx is impressive and frankly that statistic is much more relevant than simple stats like GAA and save % especially considering that the Kings have been labeled one of the more favorable teams in terms of helping their goalies where Boston is at the midpoint

I’d consider PLD for Ullmark and DeBrusk, which is basically a get out of jail free card for the Kings. I just don’t see either team doing that while filling their biggest need. The question is whether this is a good move for team culture for Boston

Again and I can’t say it strongly enough. I don’t want PLD on this team no matter what it costs. If they are flipping him great. If not…🤬 no.

Fair. Think sometimes get looking at deals that could have happened and temporarily forget about what makes this team special. Culture is important
