Flyers No Huge Shake Ups and Someone Comes Home

Équipe: 2023-24 Flyers de Philadelphie
Date de création initiale: 7 févr. 2024
Publié: 7 févr. 2024
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Nick Seeler I believe will be resigned at or before the deadline. If not he will be gone for probably a 2nd.

I also believe that Coots will probably get the A if Laughton were to be moved.

Sean walker I would like to move for a 1st possibly but at the same time it would be nice to have him and just see what the team does.

Carter is actually having a solid season. We're passed the point where if the Pens had to move him that they'd have to pay a price to it. Now, I'm not saying he has crazy value or anything, but he could get a 4th at this point in trade.

I saw a Canucks fan does this trade, plus he is being left on the 4th line.

If the Flyers are sellers.....yeah maybe Seeler and Walker should be traded. No reason they wouldn't resign with the Flyers next summer.

Where he's been carrying that line and is on pace for over 20 goals, he has a bright future in VAN

There is no way Canucks trade Hoglander for Laughton, their C depth is fine so Laughton is not worth that much to them

Flyers will 100% be selling Walker, Probably Laughton, and possibly Atkinson and Risto, Reports say they are staying firm on a 1st for Walker, and Laughton only gets traded if they get a 1st or more, which (imo) is likely to happen with 2 Centers off the market already

Your telling me 6 goals and 2 assists with a -3 in 41 games is a solid season? As a Flyers fan I'm saying give Crosby one more chance before its time to really tear down before the average age of the Penguins is 52.

I think the Laughton train left the station once Blueger and Suter were signed. Not to mention Philo's rumored ask is sky high. If injuries to Van's center depth happened, that could change.

Walker might be a more intriguing piece to Van currently depending on the ask.

You clearly haven't watched Carter player this year, so you're disqualified from this conversation.

I'm not sure if you have been watching him because everyone puts him as a healthy scratch if the team decides to make any moves.

Again, you clearly haven't watched the games and that's fine, I don't expect you to, but to base any of this on a bunch nobodies on this board isn't the best gauge. I'll repeat though, I'm not saying he has crazy value or anything, but he's playing solid hockey on both ends of the ice. His production won't be huge because he's playing limited minutes on the 4th line, but also playing on the 2nd PP unit where he has a few PP goals.

To further my point about not listening to these people, Sullivan has every opportunity to bench him in place of other players. There ARE other options, yet he keeps playing Carter and I agree with his decision.

EDIT: Could I see a deal where we'd have retain if we needed to move him? Sure. I can concede that, but we don't have to pay to move him at this point.

Pittsburgh says no. We don't have assets for a player to dump, and then spend another to buy someone else. We have bigger issues.

I'm not sure he's having that great of a season, but he's definitely doing well enough that we're not paying to move him. It was nice to see him score on the PP last night and his hands could help a team looking for some scoring help on the PP.

He's played better this year, but still not enough to match his contract... and there are a lot of other players who are better and more deserving of a chance, especially if it's someone we'd like to keep for next year.

I've watched every pens game and Carter is not playing better. He's slow and a liability but he's been sheltered as a face off specialist on the 4th line. Carter was 3c last year and a huge liability, he didn't get any better by turning 39. He coasts often and is noticeably slower then everyone else on the ice. He still has hands but is in no way worth his cap hit and still is a negative asset.

LOL If you don't think Carter has been playing well in his role this year, then you're just a hater. I was all for moving him last year and yes, he doesn't live up to his contract, but he is not playing poorly at all this year.

If you think he's been slow, then YOU have disqualified yourself from this conversation. Dude still has wheels and anyone who's watched can verify and you sir have lied through you teeth saying you've watched. You CLEARLY have not.

Again, he doesn't not live up to his contract, won't dispute that one, but he's been a solid hockey player this year.

Last night's game score impact card. Carter was awesome for the Pens on both ends of the ice against one of the best teams in the NHL. Go away.

carter is not gaving a good season and he would get no more than a 7th on a trade IF a team was even willing to take him.

But it's all a moot point.
There is 2-3 months of hockey left, and he's not leaving his family. He has small kids in school. They aren't pulling them out.

He is constantly behind the play and out of position. His hands still have it, and he can skate straight line speed, but he's slow to react and pivot. His only saving grace is he knows how to use his size and stick and still has hands to win faceoffs. He's had a few good games, but mostly is invisible. He would probably cost a high pick to move as OP suggested and his nmc makes him all but untradable.

Wrong. Again, he's not getting any kind of crazy return and if moved, which won't happen, retention would be necessary, but they wouldn't have to add a high pick. Worse contracts with poor players with term have gone for less.

Honestly, the fact that we're even arguing about his abilities and value is a testament in itself to show that he's had some improvement over last season. At this point last year, we were debating on if a first was enough to shed his contract. LOL
