Holtz is simply not a piece that should be on the table for a rental.

NJD would wait and see on how hanifin fits before an extension.

But again even extended, Hanifin is the type of asset that can be acquired without sending Holtz. Holtz level prospects/young players are virtually never traded especially with 2 years left on his ELC

not saying mangiapane isnt solid middle 6 (closer to 3rd line) guy but for 1 yr at 5.8 (and hes 30yo) dont see why AZ has any want for him esp giving a 2nd. he is better a contender that needs secondary scoring

Mangi is only 27 years old and Calgary wouldn't trade him for that anyhow. Besides the Calgary player Arizona is interested in is Noah Hanifin but he won't be cheap either.

Because they want Calgary to get Ritchie and the Avs 2024 1st. it didn't work with Lindy so they're trying Markie.

my bad on his age. if signed 5 yr deal or so could see AZ interested but not for 1 year, t this stage AZ needs guys going to be there for awhile or let the kids get icetime. love to get hanifin - if he is interested and signs 6-8 yr deal i think AZ can give CAL best picks/prospects/combo package.

I didn’t read that as hostile, it just doesn’t make much sense for COL

I agree Arizona could give a nice package for Hanifin but it only makes sense if they get him with an extension. Most of the pundits are saying they think he'll be traded with an extension in place no matter where he winds up.

CALG will get so much more if signed. would you think CAL wants picks, young prospects, near NHL prospects, or current NHL guys?

A bit of a mix with good young players/prospects preferred. A right shot goal scoring forward with top 6 potential who isn't too small and can play center is likely at the very top of the trade targets list. Another 1st round pick or two would be nice too especially if they're in the 2024 draft.

For Hanifin specifically they'd be very interested in a good young defenseman player or prospect too... Someone with the potential to replace him within a few years.

jenik, raty, doan, soderstrum, kolyachonek - all are 22yo and close (or have some NHL time) 2 or 3 of them plus 1st and 2 x 2nd ? that do it

The 1st and 2x 2nd probably gets it done especially if it's a 2024 1st. More than that and I'd call it a big win for Calgary. IMO a nice deal for both teams would be 2024 1st + Doan + Soderstrom.

Id do that, soda is going to be good (not top pair but think middle pair) but honestly AZ has alot of D in pool and w hanifin, durzi, moser top 3 be set for years. hate to lose doan too, see him as middle 6 W but gotta give to get. 1st always like to keep but AZ has drafted 6 x 1st last 3 years so skipping one wont be end of world.

i havent seen the truly absurd proposals from them - maybe a bit homerism but nothing like the typical TML - your best player for the 3 contracts we hate and a 7th

With Montreal fans it's usually more like their overpaid washed up trash for your 1st round picks, top prospects and best young players on entry level contracts.
