If by hold you beer you mean bust it over your head, then sure. We've got every reason to believe Zegras can be as good or better than You, and he's younger.

Interesting thought!

Kyrou took a while to get rolling but he's everything the Ducks need at RW.

I can't think of a single argument against this idea from Anaheim's PoV.

Not sure why the Blues would do this. Aside from getting younger it accomplishes nothing aside from getting worse.

I’m starting to think that the Blues fans on here might be the next biggest set of homers after the Leafs fans. It’s a distant second but it’s there…

Kyrou has averaged a PPG the past two seasons. Zegras has averaged around 60-65. Zegras is a good player. He’s not as good as he is marketable though due to his insane creativity.

Neither of them are a real asset defensively.

I’m not sure where the “homerism” is here. Zegras is younger yes. But younger doesn’t always equate to getting better. There are a lot of flaws to Zegras game but there’s also a level of creativity others don’t have. With Kyrou there is an element of speed that very few in the league have.

Saying the Blues are automatically worse is sort of homer statement. There are plenty of nhl scouts that would prefer Zegras. He’s even rated higher on this website. I’m not even saying I would want to do this, just throwing stuff out there. Zegras is younger, cheaper, and can play center. So while we may prefer Kyrou, there is an element that makes sense.

Kyrou has been a better player thus far. That's what it was based off of. I like Zegras the player, but his production is fairly overhyped at the moment because of how marketable he is. Sure there's an element that makes sense. There's an element that makes sense to move Kyrou before his NTC kicks in. He hasn't been perfect, but he is elite at creating rush opportunities and his speed is as well. He's also shooting about half of his career norm. Long term it may make them better. but it's very contingent if Zegras can develop a defensive game and be a bit easier to play with for teammattes. That's a fine line to walk because his creativity is what seperates him.

Fair enough. Zegras is also 22 though. Kyrou didn’t have his first full season in NHL until he was 23. It’s not going to happen so doesn’t matter. Just thought it was interesting swap since both clubs having experienced frustration with each player.

I can see both sides to this. Kyrou is the better player at the moment and part of Zegra's value could be inflated by creativity. You are right that there could be a lot of growth still for Zegras though.

Definitely different styles of play, so it depends on whether we think we will need more playmaking or finishing in three years.

Finally as far moving Kyrou before his NTC kicks in, I can respect the concern, but I believe he can maintain the amount of checking his does this year and be a 40 goal scorer for a season or two. Kyrou really stood out to me in the last game against Columbus where it looked like nobody was really in the game.

Some Blues fans are so delusional on what Kyrou is. He is having a slight down year points wise but his defensive numbers has vastly improved this year to a point where he is no longer a liability out there. Now you want to trade him for Zegras?????? LOL Zegras is NOT GOOD!!!!!!!! He has a few highlight real plays a year and convinces everyone outside of Anaheim that he is some elite playmaker. Kyrou is the most dynamic player the Blues have had in a long time and it would be a mistake to trade him for anyone except an elite top line guy

I think you are delusional on what Zegras is. He’s still younger than Kyrou’s first full season in NHL. You are also delusional if you think Kyrou is good defensively. The trade is just a thought experiment. I expected homerism from both sides. Most nhl scouts would be split on each player. Again - Zegras ranks slightly higher on this website.

1. Kyrou got injured before making it to the NHL which set him back
2. Kyrou has been good defensively this year, go look at the actual numbers
3. There is a reason Zegras was voted most overrated by the players
4. How would you know what most NHL scouts think?

Scouting reports… Capfriendly even has some incorporated on this site…ranks Zegras as 79 and Kyrou as 78.

Please provide a defensive metric that shows Kyrou is ‘good’ defensively.

Fair enough. Can you post Zegras and Kyrou for their careers, not just this year? I don’t have subscription to that site but know guys that like to troll that Parayko routinely use that one
