Right shot d. Top 4, defensive, physical. Respectfully, I don't think you have one that makes sense for us. Zub, Carlo, Schneider, Roy, cernak...something like that.

Sabres may not trade Mitts, I honestly think it would take a first and Manson to get him. I know Avs fans will balk at that but I also don't think the Sabres are looking to trade him so they would need to be blown away.

OMG; the Avs cannot afford to sign Mitts so this simply is not going to happen

The Sabres aren’t trading Mitts. We are gonna try n sign him long term & a deal most likely gets done.
BUT if for some reason contract talks break down, then MAYBE we’d look to deal him for what Sabres89 suggests below

Sabres wouldn’t even do that
Manson is too old at this point & on the downside of his career
5years ago- sure, perfect actually
But NOW he’s 32 & on the downside of his career
Just doesn’t fit our timeline

Also, the 1st isn’t super appealing
It would presumably be a late 1st, plus we already have too many prospects as it is

COL and BUF just don’t make good trade partners off of strengths and weakness.

You're describing Manson

The Sabres don’t need picks and prospects, they need NHL ready talent. Buffalo passes at a first and Manson. Not even close.

Mitts isn't really available

We might have interest in just taking Manson off your hands though in the offseason.

I would take that if I were the Avs and Manson didn't have Buffalo on his no-trade list or would waive to go there.
