maybe they can make it work. personally i'm not sure boston wants to commit to Elias long term just based on age, but not sure what his salary demands are.

I think Harrison is probably our most underrated prospect and has been really stepping up in Providence, but I’d love to live in a world where we aren’t putting unrealistic deals on the table.

You wouldn’t have to add Merkulov. You’d have to add Ullmark going to NJ and then sending picks to Calgary to get a deal like this done,

Also, Boston is going to keep one of those defenseman. With the emergence of Wotherspoon, I think I’d prefer them keep Grz

Pretty light.

1sr/Debrusk gets you Elias. You think Grizz/Harrison/4th gets you Noah and a 3rd? Hardly.

1st/Debrusk is a bit of an overpay for Elias but not enough to make up the differnce.

You’d need another 1st added to the mix or close to it. Remove the 3rd going to Boston, add a 2nd going to Calgary you;d be a lot closer, still gets declined in all likelihood.

The going rate for Elias will be something similar to 1st/Geekie/Locmelis

For Noah 2nd/Lohrei or 1st/Brunet/3rd.

This is not really close.

Maybe sell Debrusk, Grz to third team for picks...and send those picks to Calgary. Don't know that they will want two expiring contracts.

One of the things that I think fans overlook is the impact of new additions to team chemistry.

People point to Bertuzzi’s offensive production against Tampa, but he made some crucial mistakes. I still think we would have been playing Frederic over Hathaway.

We also have some players in Providence that are starting to look like they could deserve a real look. If I have a choice between a major trade and standing pat, I’m actually leaning towards standing pat

I think it's more a factor of fans just not knowing what it takes to win hockey games, and particularly boston fans having their source of information being a guy (Felger) that doesn't know a damn thing about hockey, and is also just a professional troll.

Grzelcyk is small so he's gotta go
Forbort no score points. no good. must go.
Debrusk is just the flavor of the week sometimes. In Boston you're going to encounter some super knowledgeable hockey fans, and the other 90% just have absolutely no clue whats going on. Sadly, being able to throw around advanced stats makes them think that they do.

I think it’s impatience followed by the appeal of having the shiny new toy. I will say if we can upgrade the d line, I’d be open to it for the right player at the right price.

Calgary is getting the exact value they should be getting for Lindholm and Zadorov. It’s kind of funny reviewing perception of deals after they happen, but I give their GM credit. He’s getting value.

On a side note, I do wonder if Boston moves Poitras down before the next milestone (I think it is game 40 before he gets arbitration rights expedited a year). With the way Lysell is playing, there may be an argument to swap him and Poitras on the roster. Probably don’t do it, but Lysell is making the case for a shot.
