Anderson is also a huge cap dump & no, trading Foegele is not even remotely acceptable.

you really think any team is giving a 2nd for a 30yo bottom pair D (worst TOI, +/-, pts on oilers D). wildly over-optimistic. and AZ really has need for him esp for 2+ @ 2.75m

Hmm. It's a bit tempting, but perhaps not quite enough. If the Blues add a 3rd and you add Broberg, you'd have a better shot.

Genuinely thought St. Louis would laugh this off, if we wanted to get retention on Faulk too how much would it be?

Edmonton declines all trades. What are you trying to do here? Ruin the team?

The MTL and ARI trades don't make sense for us, the St. Louis one would be interesting if we get some retention with it (around 2 mill).
Faulk IMO is aging well and matches our window/current coaches wants very well.

I think we're a little concerned with some of his play this season while also realizing we need to freshen certain areas of the roster. Retention won't be cheap, though. How much are we talking about?

I haven't gotten to watch a ton of St. Louis but a friend of mine is a big fan of them and is pretty high on Faulk.

On EDM's side it'd need to be like 2 Mill a year, I'd toss like Akey and a 2nd in? Don't know what St. Louis would be wanting.

Faulk is below average defensively, he's an overpaid offense first guy who can't outscore his mistakes. Why do you think that matches Edmonton's need / wants?

They'd primarily want to not retain 7M across 4 TDLs. And you don't have a 2nd the next two drafts.

Blues might do this if they fell out of contention. They've never retained on a contract past the current season so I don't see that part happening.

He has improved his defense in recent years, wouldn't say he's a shutdown guy but he would be on par with Ceci especially if he is paired with Nurse who will help a lot in that category.

Our coaches want puck movement which Faulk does very very well, the main issue I have with Ceci is he isn't great on the break out and leans HARD on Nurse to move the puck.
Though I also know most people I've talked to on this site want a true Defensive Dman with Nurse.

We have a 2024 2nd, this ACGM moves it in the MTL trade that EDM would not do.
It would be:
Faulk (2 Mill retained)
-for-
Ceci, Akey, 1st 2024 and 2nd 2024

Yeah, I doubt the Blues go for that. And I'd imagine Broberg would be more enticing than Akey.

I value the retention at about a 1st, if they'd rather have Broberg I could see that maybe working but I think Holland would still refuse to let him go.

Also doubtful a trade like this happens, happy to hear what would be the expected return though.

I looked at Faulk's 5v5 numbers for this season and they aren't good, despite the fact he gets sheltered from Elite comp by his coaches. He would provide more offense than Ceci, but be a material downgrade defensively. And he comes with double the cap hit and more term.

I don't think they need a pure shutdown guy with Nurse, unless that guy has great outlet passing abilities. Nurse can skate it out with control, he's among the best in the league at that, but he's not an elite passer. For his partner I'd like an Ekholm clone, but a right shot. I'm fairly certain Faulk isn't that guy.

Yea, like I said in another post too (I think it was to you) I'd rather have a few different guys above Faulk/Chych, but was also interested in what his cost may be from St. Louis POV.

A great 2 way defender is what I'd hope is the top prio along side Nurse; Andersson, Carrier, Jensen (ect.) more so fit that bill.

Faulk doesn't get sheltered. Where on Earth did you get that idea? And Faulk is better defensively than you suggest by a not insignificant margin. When his play dips it's mostly about play with the puck, not against the puck.

I'm pretty sure Faulk would not waive for Canada. I remember an article a while back where he said or it was mentioned. I'm not 100% sure and I could be wrong but don't think it's a feasible trade

Puckiq.com tells me he gets sheltered by QoC.
