Is Jones an upgrade? Neither are NHL caliber goalies.

Maybe not a big upgrade but also clears Edmonton of over a million in salary to look at other moves.

Find someone else's second for Boqvist. A first is an overpay and Timmins is completely unnecessary to Columbus, who already can't find playing time for RHD.

Oilers aren't looking to "clear" Kulak. He is a super valuable member of the team, IF this were to ever happen, TO will be paying alot more than a 6th.

My guess is Jack is back near the end of the year and they roll into the playoffs way over the cap.

Jones has been a decent goalie in the past, and is playing well currently.
Pickard is playing decent as a backup right now.

Neither make your team better. They're both fringe NHL talent.

I never said they were looking to clear Kulak. He only way this trade works is if Edmonton has another move for themselves where they need the salary cleared and bite the bullet. If there is no move there, he Oilers will then keep Kulak that is true.

And very possible and I agree. I can the Oilers making a small depth move for a forward with size only. Mainly because they have been playing extremely well and looking unbeatable.
During the win streak they did not play a single top 5 team if I remember correctly making the streak a little easier.
If Oilers keep up their winning ways of around .600 or better hockey til the deadline, the best move for them is probably a small depth move and they forgo any idea to clear Kulak. Better to keep chemistry then change when all is well.
