just because he's on the wing doesn't mean he can't take the draws. Much more to the C position than that and I think he's better suited on the wing as he slows down

It kind of does... Centres take the draw... doesn't mean the winger can't be the low guy (some systems have that where the centre and winger swap places) and dot he centre work, but the centre takes the draw and Tavares is the best at it rn

older centers shift to wing and still take the draws very often, this isn't some new idea. JT would literally just take the draw and then shift back to wing. Giroux most recent example. Heck even Leafs used to have Nylander take all off hand draws for Matthews when they were on the same line in the early days - different example but same idea.

I think we are saying the same thing just different lineup looks...

Also, no point having Jenner on that line...

Jenner isn't available, according to CBJ fans, Jarmo, and Darren Dreger.

If he was (and ignoring Danforth), a 1st, top prospect, and additional piece of 2nd-3rd round quality is probably close...but for a team still trying to pull ourselves out of a rebuild sooner rather than later, the pick has to be 2024 and the prospect can't be just an okay RD prospect (we have SO many already).

I'm saying I think JT is still a great player but foot speed was never his strength and as he slows down and the league gets younger and faster, he'll be far better suited playing on the wing while still taking draws

fair, appreciate it. Doesn't have to be Jenner I guess, more just looking for a reliable C that could shift JT over to the wing in the ~4M price range

I think I'd rather have him at C with Willy taking the down low responsibilities in the DZone and him playing higher and still taking draws... Gets him closer to the other team's net

I wouldn't call him reliable, but Roslovic could play 2C and had at $2M for likely a 3rd. Otherwise...yeah, CBJ isn't exactly the home of reliable center play lol

Roslovic just seems like another Domi without the big time passion for Toronto and the physicality edge, no need for him really. And like for that matter JT is still a far better C than Roslovic, I want JT at LW but not if we're just getting a C you can't trust in that place. Guess for a cheap add maybe but yea not really my rationale with this

literally precisely what moving him to wing but still having him take draws does. Except doesn't make Willy be the de-facto C in the D-Zone. Doesn't have to play down low, he'd be very strong on the wall in the D zone, and can park in the radius of the net in the o-zone and do what he does best without having to hustle to the same extent to take C responsibilities in the D zone.

I'm saying he should take draws and C responsibility in Ozone and let Willy take C responsibilities in DZone
