There’s a couple players I have in mind. Shoot me what you’re thinking first

Mercer+Bahl+Vanacek+1st for Jarry (2 mill retained)+Pettersson?

Replacing Mercer with Casey+1st or Holtz+1st would also be on the table imo

That Vegas trade should be for Jake alone. Add DoC and it should be a bit more.
MP is our best defensive defenseman and been great. Why dump him now? It’s not like he is old. He’s just entering his prime.
That Van trade is just swapping chairs on the titanic.
That Detroit trade is absolute garbage for the pens. We retain on rust and take on almost 7 million in cap dumps. Yeah, no thanks. Just throw in Crosby if you’re going that far.
Why wouldn’t NJ just cut out the middle man and just do the Merzlikins trade themselves?

Not too much opportunity in jersey but he can. May take a bit of an adjustment period getting the reps in (and he may be in a similar spot as he is in jersey with Crosby and Malkin instead of Jack and Nico)

Realistically I think a Jarry trade is something that’s a more realistic possibility a few years down the line, but I really like him personally.

None of these trades benefit the Pens.

Rust is a future buyout.

Detroit isn't doing that.

They'll be doing the same thing with Copp down the road.

It doesn't make sense for the Pens either.

Taking Chiarot and retaining.

I know the Red Wings like Michigan players but this isn't happening.

I'll take 2 more seasons of Chariot over 4 more seasons of Rust.

Nothing against Rust but that term isn't great for us. We will likely just keep Chiarot and Kostin.

As much as i would love to unload Ben Chiarot, Detroit passes. That Bryan Rust contract won't age well. We'll probably be facing a similar situation with Andrew Copp a potential buyout scenario.
