Entirely too inflated sense of value for Allen.

Retain half, drop JAD, and change the second to a 3rd and then maybe there's a trade to be had. The closest comparable to a trade like this that I could find was Marc-Andre Fleury in 2022 from Chicago to Minnesota. There was 3.5mil of retention, plus Fleury's GAA and SV% were both better then than Allen's are this year. You know the return? A 2nd round pick. That's it.

Don't believe everything you read.

The fact that numerous teams (probably not five) are likely to be in the market for a backup goalie doesn't mean that they'll pay Montreal's asking price.

The asking price for Josh Anderson was reportedly the 17th overall pick in the 2022 draft. Then it was #13. Then it was #8. Then it was #7. How'd that work out for you?
