Winnipeg says no. Far too much for an unneeded player in Monahan.

When the extremists are done screaming from the opposing rooftops about too much or too little etc etc, it's realistic. I've been saying all along he's a late 1st or 2nd + prospect, the reports have been aligned with that as well. Imo this would cover it (unless there becomes a bidding war) without retention, add more for using the retention slot. Seems a little too poetic with it being MTL's 2nd. I also don't think it's a trade that happens until the TDL unless it's a huge offer (ie: a 1st + prospect/2nd/more/etc) since what you've proposed would honestly be around the minimum required.

I had high hopes for Kupari since he was drafted, but he's been unremarkable and I haven't seen anything to suggest that will change.
That said, I would still be willing to give him a chance as a reclamation. It's close enough to consider at least.
Our regular Jets fans will not appreciate the cost of the 2nd to upgrade from Kupari to Monahan, but it's not at all unreasonable.

I know this isn’t what Kupari was supposed to be but like he could be a perfect 4th liner for a line time

I don't see it. If anything he'd be more likely as a tertiary scorer on a sheltered 3rd line. He's unimpressive defensively so any hope of him rebounding to establish himself as an NHLer lies in his ability to outproduce his matchups consistently, which is going to require being deployed offensively against weaker competition.

This is ill-informed. Rasmus is quite adept defensively and has been unlucky around the net this year. He will never be a big point producer but he is solid on pk and can play all positions up and down the lineup with speed. Add 3 years of RFA control and I don't even give you Kupari for Monahan straight up let alone adding a top 40 pick.

that’s a wild take man Kupari doesn’t even have a goal, I think he will be a great 4th liner just not for the jets. Monahan would also most likely resign with the jets and be a great linemate with lambert next year

I wouldn't say adept. He's got it pretty easy for a 4th liner considering he's playing limited minutes without heavy defensive deployment, yet still has negative differentials.

Like I said, I expected him to be more, it simply hasn't happened yet. I don't particularly want him, but I'd give him a chance to play to his strengths just in case there's still something there.

I think the most realistic trade comp out there is Andrew Copp. Almost identical offence (Monahan has a better pace), Monahan has better defensive analytics and he has a better history of putting more than 40 pts

What? Lol. Copps defence is miles ahead of Monahan’s and Copp has a much better and overall rounded game. Monahan is good at faceoffs and is a essentially a power play specialist. He’s a poor skater and is not good 5v5 or defensively.
I think you guys will get a valuable piece for Monahan as GMs kind of go blind come TDL, but I think that you should temper your expectations thinking Montreal would get a Copp type return.

According to JFresh hockey, Monahan’s defence was way better than Copp’s. Copp was actually quite awful analytically. Monahan also has more pts on 5v5 than on pp. He hasn’t scored a pp goal in a long time. On top of that, he plays with ****ty linemates

I'm not opposed to holding out for a haul, just maintaining a mid-line of what I would look to pay to acquire a player like that if we were buying.

Way better? Come on! Seriously? Plus, if using JFresh, let’s use all the metrics then and not ignore all the other negative metrics then eh? There’s a lot of ****ty red all over Monahan’s card while Copps card looks quite respectable actually, lots of nice blue.
Monahan is a nice complimentary player, but he would have a very limited role on a contender. Would a GM overpay for him? Sure, it’s TDL mania and GMs get stupid. Hell, Montreal got a haul for a terrible D in Chiarot. Anything’s possible, but those deals are the rarity rather than the norm.

40% more defense is huge. Yes, monahan has bad stats, but Copp ain’t really that much better. We also can’t ignore that the card was made after the season, and his offence stats are inflated by a lot cuz of his 18 pts in 16 games with New York

Cherry picking stats doesn’t increase Monahan’s trade value and valuing Monahan’s trade value that of Copps is just a bad take. 2 completely different players with Copp having better overall adavanced stats as well as better defensive and overall play. I’m looking at the player cards side by side and Copp is well and above better than Monahan, both by metrics and the eye test.

I’m looking at both player side by side and I see than Monahan has a higher pts pace despite playing with bottom six players, that he has better 5v5 defensive stats by quite a lot, even if Copp’s stats are inflated. Also, Copp never hitted 40 pts before.

Copp is a pk specialist that is awful defensively at 5v5. A Copp return is right what Monahan should get

Yours predates the one I’m using my friend. March 21/22 vs July 13/22.
If there are JFresh cards for each player this current year, I would love to see them.

I’m taking the one about the year he was traded, cuz it’s that year we are comparing him to Monahan this year
