Not sure why the Avs would add a 1st for what’s at best a minor upgrade. Yes dumping the cap for next season is nice but can’t see that costing a 1st

Zegras costs more than a lottery protected 1st

Savard doesn’t return that. He’s been worse than Tyler Myers for 3+ seasons and is overpaid next season. Crazy you think Savard and Zegras are that similar in value

Newhook had two 30 point seasons when he was traded. Dach had two 20 point seasons. Zegras has two 60 point seasons. These players aren't equal and your offer gets laughed at.

No where close to getting Zegras, one of Reinbacher or Slafkovsky is the only thing that gets him for Montreal.

And lottery protecting the first doesn't make it fall to 11OA, it shifts to next year's pick, which would be an even bigger no for Anaheim.

Brisebois from the 2021 trade deadline disagrees with you. And he has his Stanley cup rings plugging his ears.

Easy to get points when you can’t play both sides of the ice, you’re playing on a brutally bad team, you get premium powerplay time, most of the offensive zone opportunities, and the best lines mates.

They’re all from the same draft class. Dach was taken 3rd over all and will probably end up the best of the bunch long term. Downside of Zegras is that now he’s over paid, and he’s only on a short term deal.

I’m estimating 11th overall based where I’m guessing the Habs finish. It’s a ballpark figure.

He’s still the same player. He’s got good value to a contending team. Clearly defined role.

You woulda said the same thing when they did it last time. Factor in that even more this time, the coaches and players all have familiarity with him, and they know they can win a cup with him in his well defined role.

Amazing how you know what the rest of the GMs in the league are thinking right now. And that he’d for some reason only be a fit on Tampa…
