Arizona doesn't really have any reason to trade Moser for this. What does another pick and prospect do for them at the expense of a good, young NHL defenseman?

I think if we are sending that extra piece....it would be fair to as for a little retention.

Could even do a similar amount retained from both goalies...so the benefit for NJD comes in 2025-26 and 2026-27. And would be wash for this year and next.

Big ask for a rebuilding team to give up a retention slot that long, especially with the GM on the hot seat. I just can't see Columbus's ownership approving it, as they've in the past been extremely loath to pay guys not to play for them. No retention for VV and a much lesser pick would be more palatable.

We are going to be squeezing every dollar on the back end of that deal. Have Mercer, Holtz, Hughes, Nemec contracts coming and will all be big numbers.

Columbus will be in the same boat with Fantilli and Jiricek then.
