TOR
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2025 (PIT)
  2. Choix de 1e ronde en 2026 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
Dubas is familiar with both of these prospects and knows what they bring to the table. They'll both play for Pittsburgh. The 1st would be Top 10 protected and rolled over into 2027 if too high.
PIT
  1. Kokkonen, Mikko
  2. Niemelä, Topi
Détails additionnels:
The Leafs are in their window of contention now and they have the cap space to strengthen their lineup which makes breaking in a young defenseman an iffy proposition. The better bet is to re-load the pipeline.

TOR
  1. Choix de 4e ronde en 2025 (BOS)
Détails additionnels:
Kampf is the kind of guy who can insulate young forwards from the PK, mentor them defensively, and can cycle well in the offensive zone. He's also historically pretty solid in the dot.

I would assume Copp and Compher will be just fine in that role in 2 years, so no room for Kampf.

I would love to see Topi learn behind Letang and Karlsson, but he will be stuck behind them until 2027. Too high a price for a guy who won't be able to shine. Pens would be better off using that for a young forward.

Seems like so many think the Leafs should be noticeable older with long term contracts.
Knies is better than 2.2m, and I imagine you've underpaid other Leafs RFAs.

Placeholder trade, they'll get a 4th from someone for him who needs him for that purpose. But yeah, so long as they play all two minutes, you got no worries.

2 year term. He has plenty of time to increase that before he is UFA.

You're not just getting Topi there, you're also getting Kokkonen. He's been doing quite well for Toronto this year. It is likely any forward you get with a mid first round pick in 2026 (remember it is top 10 protected with 2027 rollover as indicated in the notes) is three years away, so you are looking at 2029 before you get any returns on that.

We don't need another LD. That's one thing we have in the system.

Kampf is the type of guy you'd have to pay to offload. It's not that he's bad, he's just expensive for his role.
