Why do the Leafs have a three year window? Leafs are going to spend to the cap....no matter who the players are. Now getting a GM that can get a winning formula is the difficult part.

So if Nylander doesn't resign wit the Leafs, why would Detroit give up DeBrincat hoping to resign DeBrincat. Just keep DeBrincat and sign Nylander as UFA, if both parties are interested.

I don't think you have worry there is no way Yzerman shells out $10M for Nylander. The only way Nylander takes less than $10M is to stay in Toronto.
