He said Kent Hughes has a price on their goalies (didn’t say how much or which goalie).

He said Gibson will be expensive, but we knew that.

Our GM has said multiple times he doesn’t think switching goalies mid-year works. He prefers to do that in off-season. We have some goalie issues during his tenure…so he has been asked often about it. I don’t believe we add a goalie until the summer. If anything, we probably add a dman.

Not thinking you add a goalie is different from the current market value of goalies.

Although it may be a high price for allen. Montreal also does not do this trade. The only position we may refuse to take is left shot d-men we are trying to get rid of some already. they are looking for forward prospects. we don't need more picks, but i suppose could flip it for something else.

I'd personally trade Allen for just the 3rd rounder so Primeau can get more opportunities in a rebuild but I think Hughes is trying to get at least a 2nd.
The chances a 3rd rounder becomes even an NHL regular are low @ 15%.
Allen being a stop gap is worth more in the next 2 years to Hughes. If this was the return price then I think the deal would have been done already!

Yeah and considering that the rangers will be picking at the end of the round that 3rd is essientially a 4th. they may consider a 3rd at the start of the round.

I would vomit if the devils traded a 2nd for a 4 million dollar 33 year old goalie the next 2 years who hasn’t even been particularly good.

Allen for Vanacek+3rd or Allen 50% retained for 3rd is what I would offer

Ya I think squires 3rd would do it. I don't know if they would retain salary in the trade though, at most I think $1 million in retention is all I would do at that number.
