Isles need Dobson a lot more than Thompson

Last year maybe the Isles would have considered that, but with Dobson blossoming into a point per game, legit top-pair guy, and Thompson's scoring being down, I think that's an easy pass for Lou.

Hurt or not, 9 goals in 26 games is only a 28-goal pace. That's a significant drop-off from the previous two seasons.

Why would the Isles be interested in damaged goods in return for one of the best young defensemen in the league? Mike Milbury isn't running the show anymore.

I just think that you're being extremely hopeful that the goaltending just gets better and that defense is so soft. I dont think either of those areas are that better.

I dont think you need another point producing dman, I think you need some real defenders. And the 3rd line is just too young to play together.

And the pay increases to dahlin, power and lindholm are eating your entire cap

Mitts is producing more than Lindholm, is younger, and probably cheaper to keep around. No reason to make that trade either.

I think dobson would cost more than Thompson right now, dobsons value is up, Thompsons is down, which is probably fine, as hammerwise mentioned, our d is too soft, too easy to play against. I think power is suffering through the sophomore slump, but I'm expecting him to provide more offense, I don't think I'd pay a premium for dobson. Yes to Sturm, a defensively capable center that can win a draw is a no brainer. Olofsson is tricky, there's no market right now, not sure if pegula will retain, won't be shocked if the Sabres run the clock out with him. Lindholm would be a really nice player, a selke type center for our middle 6, not sure what the cost would be, obviously would depend on an extension. Here's my problem, if my top 3 d are dahlin, power, and Samuelsson- there is no way I can run ryan johnson and jokiharju out as 4 and 5. Gotta get tougher. Or move power. What we are doing isn't working, and there's no reason to think it's going to.
