Description
We haven't even hired a new GM yet.

And the 6th longest serving Head Coach in the NHL is still running things behind the bench.

Maybe ... just maybe ... tearing everything down isn't going to make your problems go away ...

We just fired the Head Coach.

Jacques and Alfie are taking over behind the bench.

As for Giroux and Chychrun, they're staying.

They're both from the Ottawa Valley, they're both core pieces and both will easily get extensions.

I'd also add that Giroux has a NMC.

Idk if things dont improve do we really think both guys are staying. Sure they from the area but if there is no improvements they may go sorry I want to win to and move on

Like Giroux may end up back in FLA as he did want to stay there just couldnt make the money work.

Cause in the end if Alfie and Jacques dont get them to the playoffs Chycrun especially may be eyeing another team. Hes young, will make a lot of money in FA and strong competitive teams may be all over him

Got to keep all options open

Thanks for the info about Chchrun and family in the Ottawa Valley. From a Sens view, is it wise to extend Chychrun (with a raise) and Giroux. Not blaming those two players but could it just result in more of the same (finishing out of the playoffs)

No, he was not a "pretty good" defenceman lol.

Here's his stat card from when he was traded:

    https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1623762661052755970

Florida is irrelevant because he signed there months after.

Tarasenko is going to choose any team that is a contender.

If that was his motive at the deadline last year, it will likely be his motive at the deadline this year.

Chart shmart lol. Mikkola was a big add in the trade and was very good at his role for his price. Either way pass on senko

Chychrun and Giroux won't become UFAs until the 2025 offseason.

If we trade them for some reason, it will be at the 2025 deadline.

Thats why I said talk to them this offseason and see if both want to extend or not.

If undecided or if they go no explore a trade

No need to trade now unless someone significantly overpays this TDL

    Mikkola was a throw in.

And if the Rangers traded for Motte a second time, they could trade for Tarasenko a second time too.

Either way, we just fired the Head Coach and won't be trading Tarasenko just yet.

FWIW, Chychrun should sign for 8 million x 8 like Chabot and Sanderson.

Giroux should sign for anywhere between 5-7 million on a 1-3 year deal.

I'm confident it will get done.

I'm sorry you couldn't tell that I was being sarcastic.

    Better luck next time.

Either way, your point about the all-star game is irrelevant ...

Yes it is... Easier to use in trade conversations...

Sorry your guys aren't as good as you think

Chychrun's family is based in the Ottawa Valley.

He'll be signed to an 8 year extension like Chabot and Sanderson.

Isnt Chychrun an american? How are they in the ottawa valley?

    Chychrun has dual citizenship.

However, several members of his family are from the Ottawa Valley

One of which is Uncle Luke Richardson, current Head Coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Also, Chychrun did his power skating and played pickup hockey with his Dad and Grandpa in Arnprior, which is a small town just down the highway from where the Sens play.

And Chychrun's Mom and Dad spend their Summers at a cottage in the Ottawa Valley too.
