Another Dach/Newhook type with size preferred
We got RD
We got LD
We got Wingers
We could use a Goalie upgrade on Primeau
But Fowler is the Top NCAA Goalie on the Top NCAA team set to Become IMO the Starter for Team USA this year if not the back up
He's years away so we'd like someone for the next 3-5 years at the NHL level

Outside that we're good
We'd definitely pay more for a Zegras type that fits our Build over another Dach/Newhook type
But we're in no particular rush

honestly im a rangers fan but im not sure if we really have anything you would like maybe garand as a goalie but other than that we would probably be willing to move kaako winger , jones a defensemen and a contract for financial purposes on the prospect side maybe McConnell-Barker but not sure if there is a trade fit. what are your thoughts

They dont need Dmen at all. They wpuld listen on a RD purely because of the value in quality rd pieces but it would have to be something valuable and other options not beong available.

Any forward needs to be atleast 6'0 and atleast be a secondary option at C. They dont need undersized wingers.

A solid goalie option in the early 20s preferably waiver exempt still.

Draft picks.

I think it depends on what you want.
I mean we value our pieces but certain pieces are in other pieces way
Othman had good Chemistry with Owen Beck so there's interest there to a degree but at the same time we'd pass if its not part of a bigger deal that makes sense as we have Othman types. We'd see value in the possibility for giving Roy a boost next year if he's not seen the NHL yet with Othman-Beck (speedy goal scorer, agitating center and a all around high IQ hockey player)

But the cost has to be worth it

Then its Kakko as we see value for the right Price
But we also dont see him as a top 6 guy but more of a middle 6 guy likely 3rd line like Armia was but way more consistent Offensively.
So we might give up a good prospect and a 2nd but a 1st in a deal for Kakko from our POV is a hard sell
For EDM on the other hand they might jump up and down for Kakko for a 1st.
Its all about team POV

I like Rempe and Barbashev Personally for lower end deals
Rempe provides what we need in the AHL and is a long shot. He's more interested in fighting then learning so at best he's kinda like Pezzetta
Barbashev i love as he's a lot like his brother was at that age , that said he'll need years of investing

Outside that the only People who jump out i really want we dont need or you wont part with as it would be nuts to

I think if i knew who you were after though it would help
If its a big name i'd say there's nothing to complete the deal
If its a younger core piece we've acquired as long as we get what we paid++ we'll listen

But overall NYR and MTL seem to have the same strengths
You're 3 years ahead of us obviously but we drafted deep in the same positions
Which is top be expected given we hired your former GM and his top Draft guy Bobrov along with Team Trainers and Doctors from NYR as well.
Its not Shocking that by Design we just mirror each other in the way our team rebuilt, difference being you land Top Tier Names like Panarin in a rebuild
While we land Monahan (who we love but its not the same)

I think the Habs need to stockpile draft picks right now. They would take on bad, expiring contracts for draft picks.

Depends on who and if they're on or off IR
We got no problem taking Cap
Taking on a roster player is a problem though

MTL's new GM didnt purge the old GM's guys
Instead he invested in them

Then his first Draft got more Quality in 1 year then MB in his last 3 i think?
Kidney and Mysak were scratched due to overcrowding at first this year
Next year many other are coming too and we're getting crowded at NHL and AHL

Why not try to stockpile like Arizona to build a team for 12 years, instead of rushing the rebuild with long-shot project?

ARZ took almost all LTIR and IR cases with less then 50% odd at coming back and less odds at staying healthy.
If that's what you're doing as i described above then 100% yes

But the Buyouts this year and the fact that ARZ wouldnt touch Josh Bailey, Mike Reilly, Kailer Yammamoto , Matt Duchene , Blake Wheeler, and Tony "Dbag"D'angelo
To me that say there's a line that most GMs especially ARZ and MTL's GMs chose not to cross.
There was good money to be made just like when MIN bought out Parise and Suter after a year + of trying to move them
But if it takes up roster Spots long term because they'll likely be healthy all that time , then its not worth it

So Mantha while i dont want him here does fit the mold (though WSH fans will argue he's their Anderson and they're happy to keep him rather then pay)
But Campbell is a big old hell no by proxy

But even then there's more value in building up the youth now.
Roy and Kucherov at age 20 head to head they were on par up until about now when Kucherov joined the AHL in a shaky first year.
Roy can do that same thing very soon the way MTL is losing players left and right.

But how will we ever know if he's not given the same chances to fight through adversity and grow like Kuch did before breaking out like 8 months later to start the next season at age 21 i believe.
Clutter's fine as long as its not in the youth's way , even TBL took on dead contracts for increased favor in deals over the years.

Not sure who "see " is but
Monahan is Futures not a big deal as we want to re-sign him next year so we're trying to find a right fit.

We dont need bodies in a deal like that per say but we need your:
-First or two 2nds with 1 being a conditional first based on Monahan playing 50% of NYR playoff games)
-3rd or 4th round pick if its a Conditional 1st , if its not a 5th or 6th round pick

1st and a 5th round pick in 2024 i'd be happy with
The other deal i'd be happier with as i have faith in Mony meeting said conditions

But im also factoring in we'd leave money on the table sure
That we'd get Monahan to a team he can probably win the cup on if he plays for you like he did us
Its also a tag bit selfish as i know you're not ponying up like other suitors would to sign him next year in competition with MTL

Again we love Monahan and see Value
But if you make it Clear he's a Rental and you're not competing to re-sign him with MTL next year
Most Habs fans will see the advantage in a Strategic play like this over trading him to lets say COL where they could use him now and the next 2-3 years really

Garand is a 1 years fix
I'd be interested in Othman but interested in a 1st more
While i dont like where some of our guys are picked in the draft
Hughes has done good at parlaying picks it assets.

Maybe we use that 1st and another pic to upgrade to a top 15 pick then Flip it for Peyton Krebs in a deal similar to Dach
Stuff like that dont happen when you stockpile assets because there's a limited amount of Contract and Rosters spots
This takes your position of leverage away and most GMs will try to exploit it hoping someone else will step up forcing your hand

Its why so many teams since roughly 2007 ish prioritize Picks overall
While Hughes said he preferers a Dach type to a 1st rounder of similar quality
He didnt mean treat Prospects as Pokemon as we try to catch them all hahaha

Othman fits in a bigger deal when a Heineman , RHP , Ylonen, Armia, Anderson or someone like that move out to create space
Otherwise Othman will have trouble cracking into over crowded NHL and AHL systems.

LOVE to have him but only if we can put him in a position to succeed
Ideally we'd move out Armia or RHP so Ylonen and Heineman would both be elevated creating room for Othman-Beck-Roy next year.
Othmans GREAT but he's 6'1 and a 170lbs. He needs time to find his balance between Speed and Muscle Mass which takes 1-2 years.
Otherwise well keep getting injured kids every year all the time

All Montreal really needs right now is top end (high ceiling) potential at forward.
It doesn't make sense for them to "buy" anything else, but asset gains which can eventually be used towards future acquisitions are fine.
We have enough organizational depth, but no "sure thing" top line forwards in the system, so will need to hedge our bets with more potential in that area.

Yupp i 100% agree
If i can get a Zegras after selling off some assets and gathering more of a stockpile
Then i'd be all in for pretty much anything involving Picks and Non Pro Prospects excluding the obvious ones in hutson, reinbacher, fowler, ext

We need a High End Creative Playmaker most of all
Few Better in that Regard then Zegras aka one of Coles best friends and former teammates

Having Garand even for 1 year would help Dobes and maybe give us the chance to spare Primeau too. Othman and a 1st would be a blessing for Monahan ...
