Honestly, I think Florida passes. It's way too big of a downgrade at goalie and on defense to justify the upgrade from Verhaeghe to Marner. Their top 6 becomes electric, sure, but trading Montour means that every night your 2nd & 3rd d-pairs are some combination of Niko Mikkola, OEL, Uvis Balinskis(???) and Dmitry Kulikov. Oh, and your goalie tandem is now Anthony Stolarz (0 career playoff games) & Ilya Samsonov (.902 SV%, 3.06 GAA, 5 wins in 17 career playoff GP.)

Florida just becomes this incredibly top-heavy team that would likely win a ton of games 6-4 in the regular season and doesn't have that success translate as well in the playoffs.

Marner’s probably sick of losing by now and having his family name run through the mud in Toronto.

But Florida is trying to build a hard team to play against, not a soft one, they would consider it but toronto would have to sweeten the deal.

This is an absolutely awful trade for the Leafs. There's no way you're actually a Leafs fan this **** would constitute sabotage

I think that Verhaghe/Montour for Marner is an interesting place to start but the dollars are going to be annoying to line up - and I think this would have to be an offseason trade, because I couldn't see either team wanting to help someone they're chasing for a playoff spot.
