Hawks pass. They've spent 5 years developing Vlasic, whos a hometown guy, into a player thats finally starting to resemble his cousin Marc Edouard. He's likely going to be big part of the future core with Bedard.

No thank you. Vlasic is shaping up to be a top 4 shutdown defenseman for the long haul and is only 22 and is from Chicago. Hawks have Commesso in AHL who is doing well and now Gajan in OHL as well as Soderblom as backup. Not sure they need more goaltending depth.

Hopefully he doesn’t take after his cousin, sign a 7yr 7M deal and mentally check out. 🤣

Hopefully that dude in your pic doesn't offer him a 7 year deal when he is 31 y/o lmao

Hey I'd even take a terrible contract at age 31 if it means Alex peaks like M-E did as arguably the best shutdown guy in the world

But hey, if that guy in his profile pick is still around in seven years then that’s a sign the rebuild went well!

I should have also said I would reject that trade proposal for Vlasic.

With Vlasic, I could see things going either way. I know he is a hometown kid and has been playing great, but with the wealth of LHD CHI has, I wouldn't be surprised to see them sell high on any of them, including him. I would certainly prefer they didn't, though. I like him a lot and have a good feeling about his NHL career.

That all said, I don't think CHI would have much interest in Knight or value him this highly at all. Especially with that contract and his recent history of unknown issues that landed him in the player assistance program. We'll keep our young stud dman, unless something that really helps our rebuild is coming back.

I believe I heard Knight was dealing with OCD and anxiety.

I would hold off on dealing any of the young LHD until they know what they actually have, it’s nice to have a pipeline with Korchinski, Vlasic, Kaiser, Del Mastro, Allan and Phillips but we know not all of them are going to hit, I sure as hell want to make sure I’m holding on to the best and moving the less impactful.

Oh yeah. That's right. I forgot that came out.

But, Is Vlasic playing really well right now?
Yes.

In the opinion of CHI's front office, does he project to continue improving and be a big part of CHI's future?
Idk. I certainly think so, but I'm not professional scout.

Do we have others that project as good or maybe even better that would make the assets we could recoup on Vlasic worth while?
Possibly.

It's all calculated risk that they are gonna have to figure out. And I could see a scenario where, like the Hagel trade, an offer for Vlasic is too good to pass up.
