Canucks should pass on Barrie I'd rather we throw 4.5m at Bear then bring in Barrie he's at least decent at defensive side of the game while moving the puck Barrie would just be out of place not having a PP to QB.

Between the Sharks and Hawks trades you managed to turn Myers, a 6th, and a 3rd into a 5th round pick. That's extremely poor asset management. Hawks probably accept.

Totally agree with your comments regarding the poor asset management by the Canucks. I will however, respectfully disagree about the Hawks accepting.

Labanc is still owed roughly $4.4m in actual $$ this season which is a lot for a guy with 2 assists in 14 games and hasn’t had a good season or at least a season that justifies his $4.725m cap hit since 2018-2019. For me it would take more then moving up two rounds in the draft to make want to take his contract.

He's a UFA at the end of the season and the Hawks need top 6 wingers. If he plays well you can flip him at the deadline too. Its an easy yes, what else are you spending that cap on.

If they acquire Labanc they still need a top six winger, the guy has two assists in 14 games and has sucked for five seasons. Do you honestly think he is going to come to Chicago and turn his career around playing with a roster bereft of talent?

As the trade deadline approaches teams will be looking to create cap space, they will be looking to move money out so they can bring different players in to reinforce their rosters for long playoff runs. Be patient, keep the cap space and capitalize when when the trade deadline frenzy starts.

If you are taking on $4.4m in actual $$ and the prorated portion of a $4.75m cap hit, that at a minimum should return a 2nd round pick, not a 1 1/2 - 2 round climb in the draft.

Was about to say the same thing. But you put it perfectly. Why doesn't VAN just pay a 3rd to dump Meyers and be done with it? The rest is unnecessary and SJS doesn't need the cap space.

IMO Fabbro's a guy to get at TDL. He can play a solid defensive game, it's just his offence can be non-existent at times.

I agree if we can get him for a reasonable price I would really like him on our Roster.

The Hawks could use a top 6 winger. Too bad Labanc hasn't been one for several seasons now.

The way I see it, they're buying up into the draft and it only costs cash. They're not tying up a retention slot and with the absence of Hall, AA, and Perry, they have the roster space.

Leblanc could possibly benefit from a change of scenery. Maybe he clicks with someone. Who knows? Maybe he raises his trade value and the Hawks double dip with the return. If not they let him walk at the end of the season. To me, it's a no lose trade. They'll still have tons of cap space at the TDL to use acquiring more assets.
